ABOUT THE ROLE
We're seeking a Head of Business Development to join our growing team in Atlanta. The successful candidate will be passionate about all things business development and ready to bring that energy and discipline to our high-performance, collaborative team. You will have an extensive background in business development strategy and experience in building successful and repeatable processes that guide prospecting, proposals, and new business acquisition. You will be counted on to help Jackson Spalding earn significant new revenue from new clients annually.
As a strategic leader you will have an owner mindset and be self-driven and results-oriented while also possessing exceptional interpersonal skills. Your “hunter” skillset will be pivotal in designing the next generation of BD thought process innovations and internal contributors. You will be a team player who brings value in sharing your expertise and serving as a recognizable industry leader and resource for business growth and development. A team of senior agency leaders will support you along with the day-to-day BD team. Above all, you absolutely love working with prospective clients, understanding their challenges, and finding ways to bring our agency’s expertise to bear on their behalf.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the business development function for the agency, including prospecting, pursuits and proposals. Focus on the entire customer experience process while also leading people and relationship-building processes among Discipline leads, executive team and client account leaders.
Develop annual business development plans that support the agency’s revenue growth objectives
Strategically map growth opportunities and proactively identify RFPs on the horizon that JS would be qualified to pursue
Operationalize BD best practices throughout the organization including outbound networking
Formalize and manage the go/no-go decision process re: specific new business opportunities, and our processes for pursuing and winning those we select
Structure the growth of the BD team to support business growth in our target geographies/office locations
Collaborate with internal creative, marketing, client advisory, public relations, digital and analytics teams to develop the best possible solutions
Effectively manage the pipeline of potential leads, clients, and referrals
Support new business development efforts along with teaching and training all JS employees on BD mindset and generating new business
Manage multiple projects at various stages simultaneously, while partnering closely with Finance to manage account budgets and staffing
Organize our collective outbound client relationship building efforts at scale, including a national focus on conferences and spaces that will deliver value to JS’ overall BD efforts
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Communications, or related field required
Integrated Marketing or Public Relations certifications such as: Google Analytics, Certified Sales Professional, Certified Public Relations Specialist, Master Project Manager or Professional Certified Marketer preferred
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 15 years of experience in professional services setting
Prior high-level leadership expertise in B2B and/or B2C with public relations, advertising, marketing, or communications
Prior agency experience
Advanced critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail along with a desire for team collaboration and open communication
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex or technical information to non-technical audiences
Asana project management preferred
Proven expertise in relationship-building, strategic planning, storytelling for pitches, client retention, and sales organization mindset
Proficiency with development of strategy models for proposals, bids, etc.
Experience and proficiency with sales tools such as HubSpot and Salesforce
Learner’s mindset – passionate about business development trends
Diligent, responsible, organized, and capable of managing multiple pursuits simultaneously
