We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design and Test Engineer to join the team with JETS II.

As an Electrical Design and Test Engineer in the Electrical, Data and Controls Section in the Operations and Test Department, you will perform the following duties in support of test facility operations and maintenance:

  • Support test electrical buildup and operations and produce required documentation
  • Design and oversee the installation of low voltage power distribution systems
  • Program PLCs or NI equipment, specify sensors, develop calibration curves
  • Specify and initiate procurement of electrical and control system hardware
  • Review and track engineering deliverables for project status reporting
  • Resolve corrective actions as they arise
  • Develop and maintain electrical and control system operating procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Job Requirements

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Understanding of electrical drawings
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Proficiency using computers and interfacing them with controls systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills

Requisition Preferences:

  • BS degree in electrical, electronics or power engineering from an accredited engineering school
  • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
  • Installation of Sensors and Instrumentation
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs and programming software

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
