Position Summary:

San Diego Fertility Center is seeking a full-time Embryologist who will be responsible for performing the IVF embryology laboratory procedures to produce consistent pregnancy rates and deliver exceptional patient care. As the Senior Embryologist, you will also perform gamete incubation, insemination, embryo culture, and other techniques in human in vitro fertilization to help or patients grow their families.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing semen analyses and reporting and recording results.
  • Preparing semen samples for insemination.
  • Evaluate sperm morphology.
  • Cryopreservation of sperm.
  • Preparing sperm for IVF.
  • Performing sperm aspiration procedures PESA/TESE with the clinical providers.
  • Maintaining cryopreserved sperm sample inventory.
  • Performing endocrine assays as needed.
  • Maintaining daily laboratory quality control.
  • Identifies, assess, and culture of oocytes.
  • Performing in vitro fertilization.
  • Determine successful fertilization.
  • Embryo culture and assessments.
  • Selection and preparation of embryos for transfer.
  • Embryo and oocyte vitrification, storage, and warming,
  • Micromanipulation techniques including laser assisted hatching and ICSI, and embryo biopsy.
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other health care support personnel when appropriate.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or other related field.
  • Previous work experience in a laboratory. Experience in embryo and/or cell culture techniques desired.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in an infertility practice preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to all situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on an ongoing basis without company sponsorship.
