Job Description: Indorama Integrated Oxides and Derivatives (IOD) is currently looking for a Research Engineer in The Woodlands, TX to support and develop new products for the linear alkylbenzene business. Research development will not only include new raw materials but also the use of new catalysts and process improvement for current products. This position requires experience in the alkylation of aromatic systems using acid catalysis. What will be expected from you? Routinely lead and manage several R&D projects that bring value to the business. Process types include: Process development and improvement in laboratory, research reactor and commercial plant scale. Develop and scale-up new commercial products and transfers existing products to new manufacturing locations. Product & process evaluations in laboratory, pilot plant, commercial plant, and with customers. Provide technical and troubleshooting support to customers to solve product problems. Involvement in product application chemistry projects. Function as the expert technical team member on plant improvement initiatives. Develop new ideas that will bring value to the company. Improve knowledge of processes chemistry, engineering, chemistry, and business principles important to the job. Effectively communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences. Maintain a safe work environment and stays current with safe work practices. Receives training for process safety, safe working practices, basic chemical processes, and related equipment. What are we looking for in the ideal candidate? MS, or BS in Chemical Engineering discipline with 5 years of experience required. Ph.D. Chemical Engineer is strongly preferred. Experience in research engineering, developing commercial products in the petrochemical industry is preferred. Interest in being a research engineer in The Woodlands, TX, supporting development of commercial products and processes. Strong capability to solve problems in the following areas: People, Mathematical, Logistical, Experimental (laboratory and commercial plant), Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Computer Simulation. Strong ability to work with people and in teams. Demonstrated ability to achieve valuable commercial results. Strong analytical thinking skills. Preferred chemistry and process expertise in: Alkylation with liquid acid catalysts, especially HF Alkylation, with solid acid catalysts Dehydrogenation Hydrogenation Sulfonation As a minimum, chemical processing of hydrocarbons Ethanolamines, Ethylene Oxide, Ethylene Glycol Catalysis Analytical chemistry, particularly; GLC, GCMS, NMR, and titration, Both continuous and batch chemical processes Sulfur removal Aspen simulation What can we offer you?
