Prytania Veterinary Hospital in New Orleans is an established, busy, privately owned veterinary hospital that offers a fun and collaborative working environment. We seek a friendly, reliable, hard-working animal lover to join our team as a Kennel Assistant.
A kennel assistant provides daily care, feeding, and exercise for boarding and hospitalized pets. A great kennel assistant pays close attention to each pet’s status for signs of stress and changes in eating or bathroom habits, promptly notifying technicians and veterinarians when a pet needs medical attention.
Our kennel assistants will also interact with clients in person, so they must enjoy working with people and animals. Excellent communication and multi-tasking skills are required for this position. Proper record documentation and accurate completion of boarding and drop-off forms and cage cards are critical. A kennel assistant must pay close attention to details, understand and follow proper feeding and sanitation procedures, and monitor boarding and hospitalized pets.
The kennel assistant is an integral part of our team and must be reliable and report to work for scheduled shifts. Must also be able to work in a bustling and sometimes stressful environment. Experience is preferred but not required.
