JOB SUMMARY: The Mechanical Engineer position requires a well-rounded engineer capable of evaluating a problem in a customer’s plant. From the evaluation, he or she then develops a mental vision of a creative, effective, efficient, and economically viable solution to address a customer’s needs. This individual will then transfer the concept to Solid Works or Auto Cad drawings, develop a bill of materials, create detailed product costing, develop a Gantt chart, and proceed to build and ultimately install a working machine or piece of equipment that will provide the customer with a long-term, dependable solution. This includes all supporting documentation detailing machine operations, maintenance, and parts list. The Mechanical engineer must be able to manage projects from concept to installation. EDUCATION: Required: Non-degreed candidates must have equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or closely related field. EXPERIENCE: Required: 5 or more years’ experience in the design and construction of automation machinery and equipment. POSITION REQUIREMENT(S): Specialized Skills/License/Certification Required: Competency with both Solid Works and Auto Cad. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving, critical thinking, close attention to detail, and committed team player. Possess excellent planning and organization skills. Strong computer skills including MS Word, Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Outlook. Preferred: Familiar with Allen Bradley control systems, and software. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Research, design, evaluate, install, and operate mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. Take machine and process ideas from conception to an easily visualized and workable system for presentation to our clients in a Solid Works format. Take ideas from the concept to complete models with detailed BOM and complete drawing packages made ready for manufacturing. Utilize effective communication on projects. Ability to work closely with electrical engineers and technicians to assure proper functioning of complete system. Select materials and components of construction and understanding of the workings of mechanical systems. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports. Confer with other engineers and personnel to develop processes, implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
