ASRC Research and Technology, LLC is seeking a Data Engineer to support our data efforts for current and future work. This position will work directly with senior ASRC technical staff and have far reaching technical implementations across both the company and customers. There is a strong emphasis on data engineering, problem solving and remediation using systems and software development, pipelines-as-code, and public cloud technologies. Qualified candidates will have a strong background in solving problems at the application and data levels, as well as the ability to provide both tactical and strategic engineering recommendations in the above spaces. This job may be remote with infrequent travel within the US as needed. Duties and Responsibilities * Work closely with senior ASRC staff in developing and implementing technical strategies up to and including engineering prototypes * Work effectively across the entire technical stack, from networking to distributed systems to data * Assist in establishing the strategic vision and delivery of current and future data products * Participate in the development and delivery of technical presentations, architectures, implementations as opportunities arise * Clearance Requirements: * The selected candidate should have or be elligible for a Secret clearance as needed * US Citizenship is Required. * Qualifications & Requirements * B.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field is strongly preferred. * Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IA baseline security certification for IAT Level II (e.g. Security CE, CISSP) within the first year as needed. * 1 years as an Enterprise Linux Administrator/Engineer; RHEL preferred. * Implementation and operations in cloud environments (OpenStack, AWS, GCP, Azure); AWS preferred. * Experience preferred in modern data platforms with one or more of the following technologies: Kafka, NiFi, Flink, Beam, Airflow, Drill, SQL (Postgres, MySQL, etc), NoSQL (Cassandra, COuchDB, etc), Databricks * Proficiency with IP networking in Linux environment (DNS, switching, iptables, etc.) * Experience with development and implementation utilizing containerization. * 1 years development and implementation in cloud systems and software automation utilizing Everything-As-Code principals; Ansible preferred * Development and implementation in GitOps & Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment; GitLab, Jenkins preferred. * Strong troubleshooting skills with emphasis on problem identification, resolution, after action recommendations * Experience delivering solutions in the DoD / DISA environments desired, but not required. * Assertive communication and ability to influence cross functional stakeholders to make best decisions for the company and clients. * Strong written and verbal communications are a must * Strong documentation skills are a must Optional Qualifications
