Job Description The Distribution Manager will be responsible for the daily scheduling of company resources to meet customer requirements, focusing on safety, utilization of assets and costs per metrics In accordance with current Operating Standards, “Company Policies and Procedures” and in the best interests of the Company; its Customers; Employees and the Public, the Traffic Supervisors responsibilities include: People: Ensure the drivers have the proper training and equipment to perform their duties safely. Listen to all driver concerns and act on them appropriately as they relate to: Safety, Drivers ability to perform his duties effectively, Opportunities that would increase efficiency for both the Company and the Customer Develop personal training plans for each driver to ensure they work different types of trucks (trains, tri-axles) as well as business units. Recruit, train and manage the performance of all drivers in region Equipment: Coordinate the daily assignment of company resources to maximize equipment utility while maintaining a high level of customer service. Coordinate the servicing and inspection of equipment daily with the shop personnel Ensure the look of the equipment is consistent with Irving Values and image. Data: Review of all trip, OBC data and driver information to ensure highest productivity is being achieved at the lowest cost Customer Service Ensure the Company meets all customer requirements in terms of trucks and drivers Resolve any customer delivery issues that are related to the delivery itself. Ensure any spills, contaminations or damages are quickly resolved to the customer’s satisfaction Safety and Regulatory: Ensure that the driver has adequate time to perform his duties safely and within the Hours of Work regulations Assign the proper equipment for the jurisdiction and the job requirements Ensure driver is qualified and trained to perform duties Manage incidents through site safe. Complete any investigations as necessary Ensure the fleet is operating within all regulatory bodies and with the policies and procedures of Irving Oil Financial Development and management of $5 million dollar budget Long and short term planning of fleet initiatives and strategy Achieve cost per mile benchmarks Requirements: Analytical capabilities and extreme attention to accuracy Ability to work in a time sensitive and fast paced environment Highly accountable for the success of business objectives Patience required when dealing with a variety of audiences, being responsive to other’s needs Fast-paced environment that needs quick decision-making and multitasking capabilities High sense of urgency a necessity Excellent communication skills, verbal and written along with presentation skills Strong interpersonal skills High level customer service skills Well-developed analytical and relationship building skills. Educational Requirements: Post-secondary education in business, management, logistics or equivalent experience.
