Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) is seeking a Remediation Field Technician to actively participate in the productive, effective and cost-efficient delivery of programs and services which support and enhance field operations to achieve the goals, mission and vision of the Department.
Position provides planning, organization, coordination, and execution for the remediation and/or environmental compliance at all DOC facilities. Provides analysis to ensure that liabilities potentially incurred by the Department are minimized through appropriate assessment, cost-benefit, training, and/or risk management analysis and decision-making. Provides guidance, direction, training and assistance with the implementation of corrective actions, design, recommendations and/or preventative measures to address deficiencies noted. Work with offenders and staff through the remedial re-entry program, providing guidance and training to returning citizens.
This position is construction focused and requires the candidate to possess or obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to complete the job duties within 6 months of hire. The selected candidate must successfully complete 40-hours of OSHA HAZWOPER Training and 30-hour OSHA Construction Training within 6 months of hire.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver's License. Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months of hiring. Demonstrated ability to operate heavy construction equipment (backhoe, excavator, grader, loaders, ext.). Ability to work in a hazardous environment. Ability to independently carry out the required duties without direct supervision. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Additional Considerations
Training in the operation of heavy construction equipment. Current, Valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Completion of 40-hours of OSHA HAZWOPER Training. Completion of 30-hour OSHA Construction Training.
