Irex Contracting Group is Hiring a HR Business Partner Near Lancaster, PA

Irex is seeking an outgoing, motivated individual for our Human Resources Business Partner at our home office in Lancaster, PA.

The HR Business Partner acts as a direct resource on a broad range of employee-related issues for branch operations in a designated territory including recruiting, performance management, employee relations, and other special projects. This position works with business leaders across the organization to assess hiring needs and be a key liaison for the full life cycle recruiting function from initial contact through onboarding.

The HR Business Partner maintains a high level of professionalism and customer service utilizing strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. This position reports to the Human Resources Director.

What You'll Do as a HR Business Partner:

  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, as well as federal and state employment laws.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on best practices in HR while balancing organizational, departmental, branch and compliance priorities.
  • Responsible for coaching managers and partnering with them to resolve employee related matters in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain critical and oftentimes confidential, HR documents and tools including but not limited to position bands, employee files, ERP/HRIS, and applicant tracking software.
  • Develop and update job descriptions and job specifications
  • Develop and implement best practices for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding that are utilized consistently throughout the company
  • Initiate recruiting strategies to build candidate pipelines and keep current with market trends and proactively identify future hiring needs.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of regional, external recruiting firms specializing in construction hires.
  • Cultivate a pipeline of talent utilizing alternate resources such as job fairs, trade schools, colleges, referrals, network development, social media, community organizations, etc.
  • Conduct phone, video and/or in-person assessments of applicants to assess their abilities for the job.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers/teams through the hiring process and provide oversight on screening, interviewing, candidate selection, hiring and onboarding.
  • Partner with leadership to understand business strategy and align HR needs and issues to promote strategic delivery.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Regular travel within assigned region required including visits to branches, and occasionally last minute travel due to urgent issues.

This Education Is Needed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; however, education requirements may be waived for qualified candidates with relevant experience.
  • 4 years of Human Resources experience, including experience coaching managers on people issues
  • PHR or SHRM-CP professional designation.
  • Demonstrated experience with HR technology including applicant tracking software and HRIS.
  • Possess a “process improvement” mind set.

  • Understanding of each stage of the employee life-cycle in order to apply that understanding to collaborate on solutions.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy for all documentation and communication is highly critical.
  • Strong planning organizational and time management skills to prioritize work against tight timelines.
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefit compliance laws.
  • Proficient with HRIS, ERP, or similar business information systems; Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • High level of integrity, ethics and commitment to the mission of the organization.

 This Experience And Knowledge Is Helpful:

  • Construction industry experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (ERP software) is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
