Description

Overview

Receiving is responsible for examining all contents of incoming shipments to verify accuracy. Inspect, test, sort, sample, or weigh raw materials or processed, machined, fabricated, or assembled parts or products for defects, wear, and deviations from specifications. May use precision measuring instruments and complex test equipment. 

Responsibilities 

Includes, but is not limited to, the following…

  • Examine contents and compare with records to verify accuracy of incoming shipment
  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products and/or work for conformance to specifications
  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
  • Read blueprints, data, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures
  • Record inspection data, such as weights and quantities inspected
  • Mark items with details such as acceptance-rejection status
  • Unload and load delivery trucks using a forklift
  • Deliver materials to departments using work devices such as handtruck, forklift, overhead crane or other methods
  • Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages or nonconformance to specifications
  • Maintain all inspection logs per ISO requirements
  • Assists others as required

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent GED required. A minimum of one (1) year related experience and/or training. Forklift and overhead crane experience is preferred but must have the ability to successfully complete and maintain certification. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend all forms of written and/or verbal instructions including but not limited to basic correspondence. Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints preferred. Effectively able to present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units 

of measure.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Working knowledge of MRP systems is preferred, knowledge of Syteline is helpful.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply a commonsense approach and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must lift up to 25 lbs frequently; lifts up to 50lbs regularly; lifts up to 70 lbs occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
