Position Information: Position Title: Software Engineer Job Group: Professional & Scientific Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of software engineering, wireless systems, networked/distributed systems, operating systems, virtualization, systems and network security Prior engineering experience in wireless, networks, software, and/or distributed systems is invaluable Hands-on experience with cellular network platforms (e.g., srsRAN, OpenAirInterface, ONF SD-RAN), edge/cloud computing platforms (e.g., OpenStack, Kubernetes), SDN, and/or VNF Hands-on experience in open-source projects, and open source software systems Hands-on experience in edge/cloud systems in management, virtual machines/containers, Linux systems administration, shell scripting, etc. Hands-on experience in designing, developing, deploying, and/or operating field-deployed wireless, network, and/or distributed systems Job Description: Summary Collaborate with a broad ecosystem of public-private partners in advancing the frontiers of wireless systems, edge/cloud computing, and rural broadband. Job Duties and Responsibilities Wireless Systems development, deployment, and operation Develop, deploy, and maintain (open-source) software to operate advanced wireless, network, and distributed systems, as well as their applications domains such as agriculture, education, renewable energy, etc. Design, develop, deploying, and/or operating field-deployed wireless, network, and/or distributed systems Work with cellular network platforms (e.g., srsRAN, OpenAirInterface, ONF SD-RAN), edge/cloud computing platforms (e.g., OpenStack, Kubernetes), SDN, and/or VNF Edge/cloud systems management, virtual machines/containers, Linux systems administration, shell scripting etc. Capability of building systems prototypes based on reference publications and/or open-source software Programming skills: Python, C, C , Java, Web, etc. Research and community engagement Participate in cutting-edge research that advances the frontiers of wireless systems, edge and cloud computing, and rural broadband Engage public-private partners in research, education, innovation, and entrepreneurship This position will be hired as a Regular with Term Appointment (Fixed Term) with the possibility of renewal.
