Responsibilities

As a Specialty RN with Methodist Cardiology , you will play a crucial role in providing care and support to patients with cardiovascular issues. This job involves a combination of clinical and administrative responsibilities. A Cardiology Nurse specializes in caring for patients with heart-related conditions and works closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive cardiovascular care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Assessment:

    • Conduct thorough assessments of patients with cardiac conditions.
    • Monitor vital signs, assess symptoms, and gather relevant medical history.
  2. Diagnostic Procedures:

    • Assist in and perform diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiograms (ECG), stress tests, and Holter monitoring.
    • Monitor and interpret diagnostic results.
  3. Medication Administration:

    • Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including cardiac medications and anti-arrhythmics.
    • Educate patients on medication usage and potential side effects.
  4. Patient Education:

    • Provide education to patients and their families on heart health, lifestyle modifications, and disease management.
    • Explain treatment plans and procedures to patients.
  5. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
    • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
  6. Monitoring:

    • Monitor and manage patients post-cardiac procedures or surgeries.
    • Keep track of cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, and other relevant parameters.
  7. Emergency Response:

    • Be prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies, including administering CPR and utilizing cardiac life support protocols.
  8. Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
    • Document all nursing interventions, medications, and patient responses.
  9. Quality Assurance:

    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.
    • Follow evidence-based practice guidelines and contribute to research activities.
  10. Patient Advocacy:

    • Advocate for the needs and preferences of patients within the healthcare system.
    • Address concerns and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
