The Field Specialist works alongside their assigned unit at the Boulder Probation Department to provide additional support to Probation Officers supervising specialized caseloads. This position is being posted as a part-time or full-time, entry level position that requires flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to change, while providing high quality customer service to clients under probation supervision.

Field Specialists work with clients that are evaluated as high risk and/or high need. Four Field Specialists are assigned to the following teams:

1. Adult Integrated Treatment Court (AITC)

2. Domestic Violence Team (DV-Team) and Adult Males (A-Team)

3. PACE (Partnership for Active Community Engagement) and Mental Health

4. Female Specific Unit (FSU)

How will the Field Specialist be successful in this role?

The Field Specialist provides support services to Probation clients using evidenced based practices. Job duties will be performed in a variety of locations including: the Probation Department, the courthouse, Intervention, and many community-based settings. The Field Specialist needs to be sensitive to the diverse cultural and situational needs of clients. Clients in this population may present with an array of challenges including substance abuse, mental health, trauma, abuse, interpersonal violence, and unhealthy relationships and may present as high-risk, high-need and require intensive services to be successful. This position requires building supportive relationships with clients, effective communication, maintaining accurate documentation, and developing resources and relationships in the community. This position utilizes a rehabilitative and restorative model that assists clients in exploring and developing healthy social, occupational, leisure and life skills that can aid them in being successful on probation while remaining the community.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

· Interact/communicate with clients, probation officers and community partners daily.

· Conduct community outreach to develop resources for employment, housing, food banks, medical/dental care, governmental assistance, and other areas as needs arise.

· Maintain a community resource list and provide referrals as needed.

· Assist clients with resume building, job search, and interview preparation.

· Help clients create a personal budget and open a bank account.

· Assist probation officers with client monitoring in the offices and the community.

· Provide transportation and accompany clients to/from court, detox, treatment, half-way houses, interviews, appointments, community, and governmental agencies as needed.

· Conduct/document monthly work checks in the community to verify employment.

· Document all client contacts and observations.

· Assist probation officers with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, scoring assessments, returning phone calls, preparing referrals and applications.

· Manage workload by using a shared electronic calendar system.

· Acting as a liaison between probation and community agencies. Thus, building, strengthening, and maintaining relationships with those agencies that provide valuable resources for probation clients.

· Attend court hearings and staffings as designated by probation officers

· Supervises a small caseload which may include lower risk domestic violence probation clients, courtesy out clients, and clients on administrative status.

· Attend Multi-Disciplinary Treatment Team (MTT) meetings as required.

· Aid probation officers with in-house probation groups.

· Contact/arrange guest speakers for life skills groups.

· Co-facilitate skill- based and educational groups with probation officers

· Perform substance abuse monitoring

· Organize and stock the clothing and hygiene closets as needed

· Recording all interactions with clients in JPOD database.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Details:

The Field Specialist is an entry level, full-time, 20-40-hour, contract position with monthly mileage reimbursement. This position requires the Field Specialist to work out of both the Boulder and Longmont offices and perform fieldwork in and outside of Boulder County. This position may require flexibility in scheduling to accommodate program needs outside of 8:00am-5:00pm. This position also requires use of your personal vehicle to provide transportation to clients.

The Field Specialist will report to Intervention Administration and be in direct communication with their assigned probation Team, Probation Supervisor and Team Lead. After an initial orientation with Intervention and 20th JD Probation, the Field Specialist will shadow probation officers in the office and in the field. The Field Specialist will work directly with probation officers and after the initial training period will be expected to perform duties and responsibilities collaboratively and independently. The Field Specialist is required to keep weekly records of mileage and hours worked and will attend and participate in Team Meetings, staffings, trainings and supervision.

Qualifications & Requirements:

· Must be 18 years of age and have a of high school diploma.

· Undergraduate students and those with a college degree in Criminal Justice, Social or Behavioral Sciences or a related field are strongly encouraged to apply.

· Knowledge of Evidenced Based Practices, Gender Specific Programming and Trauma Informed Care is helpful.

· Must have a valid driver’s license, current insurance, and have a reliable vehicle.

· Must be physically capable of participating in and successfully completing the Judicial Branch safety training programs.

· Required to pass a criminal background check prior to hire.

Starting Pay: $22/hourLocation: Boulder, CO
