Interpublic Group is Hiring a Director, Financial Planning & Analysis Near New York City, NY

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is an integral position in IPG’s newly formed business segment. This person will be responsible for driving financial transparency, being engaged in business planning across the portfolio of global brands and evaluating performance relative to targets.

The FP&A team provides critical insight to senior management to optimize decisions. The role will also have exposure to the incentive planning process and involvement in strategic projects. This position will report to the Executive Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis for this new segment. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in managing core financial planning and incentives processes and developing forecasts in close coordination with other members of the FP&A team (quarterly and annual forecasts, multi-scenario financial modeling)
  • Assist in the monthly review of the actuals by brand, by region and by office against expected forecasts
  • Understand & drive insights from the operating units and full company P&L, including identifying significant revenue and expense trends as well as anomalies and early signals, delivering an informed point of view and distilling insights into actionable messages
  • Analyze financial data and results, summarize and communicate key findings to senior members of the FP&A team and management
  • Assist in analysis and preparation of strategic materials (including presentations and memos) for key management meetings that drive business decisions
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations to corporate and brand management teams as well as for parent company management
  • Support development and execution of strategic projects and initiatives
  • Maintain sophisticated financial models that allow for scenario planning and real time updates
  • Design materials and templates to help collect and drive insights
  • Assimilate existing processes, identify process improvement opportunities, and provide support as new processes are coordinated and put in place
  • Other ad hoc analytical projects as needed including compensation metrics and studies, utilization and realization of our resources and other requests which come from IPG corporate from time to time

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and/or Accounting, MBA or CPA preferred
  • 5-8 years’ experience in highly analytical positions, marketing and advertising industry experience, a plus
  • Strong competence in quantitative analysis and financial presentations
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to clearly articulate and summarize analytical data into a financial memos
  • Superb attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment, complemented by a flexible approach to shift priorities on multiple assignments
  • Energetic, collaborative, and proactive team player
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to interact at all levels
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with key business partners in Finance/Accounting at the agency and corporate level
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently to resolve problems with limited information
  • Hyperion, Oracle, or other BI tools, SAP and MS Excel, a plus
  • US GAAP knowledge and experience, a plus
