Internet Tool Die is Hiring a Technical Writer Near Reston, VA

We’re looking for an experienced, extremely detail-oriented Technical Writer in a high-visibility role, who will work closely with our software development and delivery team. Our Technical Writer is responsible for documenting ideas and requirements for our products and services while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a highly technical team The position involves researching products, services, technology, or concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience from engineers to executives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
  • Collect and document ideas and requirements for content, process, and technical solutions.
  • Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.
  • Analyze information required for the development or update of policy, procedure, and form documentation.
  • Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team.
  • Ensure technical documentation is accurate and complete, meets editorial and customer specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.
  • Create, edit, modify, and maintain version control of forms/documents and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure timely updating of policies, procedures, and processes along with the identification of issue items.
  • Coordinate with project owners, customers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to provide subject matter expertise and guidance to ensure timely completion, testing, publishing, and reporting for compliance of assigned documentation.
  • Support the writing of templates and ad hoc reports.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity of technology related to Internet numbering resources and the Regional Internet Registries as well as software development.
  • Fluency in technical and common office software (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visio).
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Clear English speech and enunciation; precision in all verbal and written communications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a technical writer. Prefer Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) or equivalency.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience developing software.

Employer background check and Assignment of Inventions and Non-Compete Agreement execution required. The Company uses E-Verify to determine the eligibility of employees to work in the United States.
