International Vitamin Corporation is Hiring a Research Scientist Near Philadelphia, PA

Overview

IVC is currently recruiting for a Research Scientist to be based in Philadelphia. This position will be responsible for ensuring the effective formulation of new powder products including meal replacements, protein powders, and sports nutrition powders. Candidate must be comfortable making recommendations of ingredient selection to improve organoleptic taste and palatability to customers and work independently with business partners providing technical support for troubleshooting manufacturing issues. They must also be comfortable with interacting with customers to provide technical information upon request.

Responsibilities

  • Develop powder formulations of Vitamin/Mineral Supplements as needed to support business growth while maintaining compliance with IVC’s SOPs and industry regulations.
  • Evaluate alternate and new raw materials to assess morphology, physical characteristics, stability, and feasibility of use in manufacturing to include appropriate reports and assessments as needed.
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing from concept to commercialization including prototyping, laboratory and scale up batches and final production manufacturing batch records.
  • Provide scientific input as needed for Marketing, Label Compliance, Quality, and Purchasing.
  • Write product development proposals and reports including risk assessments and ASL reports as needed.
  • Revise existing formulations to achieve cost reductions and manufacturing efficiencies as needed.
  • Propose corrective action plans to remedy actual or potential quality issues.
  • Interact with vendors, suppliers, and technical personnel to solve issues or discuss potential new business applications.
  • Provide support to the Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and all other IVC-US and IVCN departments as needed.
  • Willingness to continue to expand current industry knowledge base by attending seminars, trade shows, and conferences where possible.
  • Be the technical R&D approver for IVCF’s Oracle ASL requirements.
  • Travel as needed to facility in Mira Loma, CA (5-10%)
  • Collaborate with other R&D team members on projects and support local activities at Philadelphia facility when required

Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree and/or master’s degree, and/or pharmaceutical degree with food science or OTC experience are preferred.
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in powder research and development or closely related activity.
  • Thorough knowledge of powder manufacturing and techniques and basic quality principles including various regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to identify the root cause(s) of problems, propose effective corrective action plans and follow up.
  • Provide support if needed remotely afterhours (3 hour difference East / West coast)
  • Perform literature searches and write reports for formal presentations.
  • Good communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
