INTERFAITH COMMUNITY SERVICES, INC. is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Saint Joseph, MO

Plans, implements, directs, and evaluates all functions of the Human Resources department, including but not limited to: payroll, benefits, and workman’s compensation. Works with all agency staff to stay in compliance with outside stakeholders such as licenses, contracts, and grants.

Works under the direct supervision of InterServ Executive Director.

Essential Job Functions – Responsibilities

Benefits function

Determines eligibility of employees for each benefit program based on employee category and job classification.

Calculates and provides staff with annual fringe benefit deduction amounts; reviews enrollment forms for accuracy and coordinates enrollment with third-party administrator.

Ensures compliance with COBRA guidelines by preparing letters and other paperwork as directed; receives and records COBRA insurance premium payments.

Coordinates health, life and disability insurance enrollments and communicates with service providers concerning routine administration of programs.

Human resource function

Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.

Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in timely fashion.

Maintains listing of approved positions along with assigned salary grade levels.

Processes personnel action forms and ensures proper approvals; disseminates approved forms.

Maintains database that includes salaries, payroll taxes and fringe allowances.

Prepares new-hire paperwork.

Assists in hiring process by coordinating job posting on the website, updating job descriptions, and onboarding new hires.

Maintains the employee handbook with updated resolutions and other pertinent information, as needed.

Compliance function

1. Requests and reviews monitors from outside stakeholders.

2. Requests and reviews corrective action plans from directors and managers for recent monitors.

3. Assists program staff in remediation by either InterServ maintenance staff or outside contractors.

4. Works with inspectors as needed to expedite the remediation process.

Safety function

1. Communicates with workman’s compensation vendor and broker to ensure all required information is disseminated.

2. Develops and implements a training schedule for all staff to be shared with direct service staff via directors and managers on a monthly basis.

3. Tracks trainings and notifications to staff regarding safety requirements and processes.

4. Approves and reports employee visits to local occupational medicine provider in the event of an incident.

5. Ensures all related workman’s compensation paperwork including billing is handled and completed in a timely manner.

Job Specifications

1. Education: BS in Human Resources, Program Administration, or related field.

2. Licensure: SHRM Certified Professional preferred, required within 2 years of appointment

3. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in related field

4. Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Training in service of staff, conflict resolution, budgeting

5. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage and motivate people. Ability to evaluate people and processes. Ability to build relationships with program staff and support that process between employees. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

6. Essential Physical Requirement: Stamina and energy to work seven days per week for protracted periods. May be required to carry up to 20 lbs. Ability to ascend and descend stairs. Ability to remain in as stationary position for more than 50% of the time. Ability to move around the office space to access furniture and equipment. Ability to position self to access upper and lower shelves, cabinets, and drawers. Ability to operate computer, typewriter, printer, calculator, etc. Ability to clearly communicate employment and benefit information to employees, compliance needs to staff, inspectors, and contractors. Ability to identify compliance and safety issues in reports, physical plants, or work activities of others.

7. Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to budget and operate the payroll system. Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines

8. Essential Sensory Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively with listening and analytical processes.

9. Exposure to Hazards: Typical communicable diseases, may be exposed to blood and other infectious material as defined by OSHA. Normal business/office substances.

10. Other: Possess a strong awareness and commitment to the social teachings of the gospel message; and to the theology of service to others, to guide, direct and engage the faith community and general community in the organization’s work and mission.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
