The Lead Engineer is responsible for working with our customers to align technology solutions with their business objectives and budgetary needs, and then implement those solutions. They oversee and support software development and artificial intelligence (AI) activities throughout the company, including both classified and unclassified contract work as well as internal research and development (IRAD). They are also responsible for supporting business development and proposal efforts for new work while participating in developing and completing company strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

• Leads unclassified and IRAD Software Projects to include:
  • Designing and developing system requirements and capabilities
  • Working with customers to develop requirements and test deliverables
  • Communicating regularly with the team and customers to ensure customer satisfaction, review customer initiatives and team goals, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Developing a solid understanding of all our capabilities and services and align them to customer technology need
  • Protecting operations by keeping proprietary information confidential
• Performs business development to facilitate company growth to include:
  • Seeking new opportunities for expanding the business in alignment with the company’s objectives and focus areas
  • Writing technical proposals for acquiring new business for the company
  • Maintaining established partnerships and relationships
  • Developing new business needs, partnerships and relationships
• Advises Program Manager on pursuit regarding upcoming opportunities such as:
  • Sources Sought Requests/Requests for Information
  • Requests for Proposals (RFP)
  • Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) efforts
  • Broad Agency Announcements (BAA)
  • Development and solicitation of White Papers
• Serves as a company Technical Lead to include:
  • Conducting technical interviews of engineering candidates and make recommendations about their placement on contract based on their skillset
  • Overseeing career development of all software developers in the company by providing in-house training and developing a curriculum of recommended external training courses
  • Developing technical content for marketing materials, including writing technical articles and demonstration video presentations
  • Acting as a subject matter expert to assist employees, customers, and leadership
  • Consulting with Program Managers and C-Level Management on technical issues for the company

Required Skills:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• TS/SCI Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
• 10 years of experience in software development
• Proficiency in one or more major programming languages (Java, Python, C , C#)
• Knowledge of collaboration tools, such as Jira, Confluence, and Git.
• Must be an innovative thinker, able to develop ideas in new and emerging areas
• Ability to multitask, managing multiple projects simultaneously with competing needs
• Ability to communicate up and down the chain of command, clearly conveying technical information to managers with minimal technical knowledge and developers with deep technical expertise

Desired Skills:

• Degree in Technical Management or experience leading a software development team with at least 4 members
• Graduate level degree in Computer Science or related field
• Expertise in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Data Science, and/or Analytics
• Experience with federal government proposal process
