Director of Manufacturing Operations
General Job Description
Oversee management of all areas of Manufacturing (Production Control, Purchasing, and all aspects of Operations) to ensure products and projects are produced according to the schedule, quality requirements, and cost objectives.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, company policies, improvement programs, and both individual and department objectives.
· Formulate and recommend manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability.
· Develop and maintain a manufacturing plan to ensure products and projects are produced according to the schedule, project specifications, quality requirements, company standards, and cost objectives.
· Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost, rework, and scrap.
· Direct and coordinate various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
· Achieve optimum employee levels with minimal overhead to meet annual budgetary requirements.
· Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
· Act as liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, and policies.
· Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff.
· Take timely corrective action as necessary to ensure adherence with company policies.
· Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations.
· Initiate and coordinate major projects, (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
· Keep current on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
· Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
Qualifications
· Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Degree with emphasis in Manufacturing Operations.
· Experience with process improvements utilizing lean business system techniques.
· Work history in manufacturing that includes machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly.
· Previous experience managing a large, diverse group of production personnel that includes production control, purchasing, and all aspects of production operations.
· Must be able to read and comprehend engineering drawings, production routings, project specifications, and quality control documents.
· Must be able to ensure products comply with the project specifications and company standards.
· Goal oriented and very organized.
· Work effectively and relate well with others.
· Good communication skills.
· Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others, working to maintain constructive working relationships.
· Experience in the hoist and crane industry a major plus.
· Capable of working full-time, on-site.
· Must be physically able to work in a manufacturing environment where walking, climbing, bending, and lifting may be involved.
