The Senior Accountant should be fluent in all aspects of accounting from understanding general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and tax accounting to be related to outside public accountant. They will work with Accounting Department staff to ensure that payroll, account payables and receivables, jobs completed, bank reconciliation, sales tax, new sales, cash flow projections, and quick book projections are completed and accurate.
The Senior Accountant is expected to work as part of a financial team which includes the Company President, Director of Operations, Business Manager, Senior Accountant, Payroll Specialist, and other accounting personnel as may be added.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform weekly cash flow projections
Perform bank reconciliations.
Enter and timely pay sales tax
Analyze profit and loss statement along with balance sheet on a monthly basis to make sure they are in compliance with GAAP
Review all daily accounting transactions between all companies
Review all daily cash transaction to make sure they are properly entered from a job-to-job basis within all companies
Make sure all accounts receivables are collected in a timely manner from all customers within in all companies
Make sure all accounts payable are paid on a timely manner for all companies
Record necessary quick book entries
May be requested to train / oversee new department staff
Assist Business Manager on accounting projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience - BA in accounting, finance or related field with 8-10 years experience in public or private sector accounting.
Understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles
Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, memoranda, income and financial statements, and accounting reports. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Reasoning Ability - Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll practices, strong organization and time management skills.
Computer Skills -Knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel; knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and word processing software, ability to quickly learn new accounting software and programs as needed
Communication Skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
