Overview

Insmed San Diego is seeking a Senior Scientist for Research and Development. This individual will design assays and execute experiments demonstrating the potency of therapeutic molecules. This individual will be responsible for identifying and implementing new technologies to study signal transduction and biochemical assays related to therapeutic constructs in relevant cell systems. Individual will be responsible for establishing novel cell culture systems to evaluate DNA, RNA and protein expression as well as functional readouts related to these constructs.

Responsibilities

Additional representative responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following: 

• Establish novel cell culture systems• Implement technology for studying signal transduction of therapeutic compounds in cellular systems• Develop cell-based potency assays for novel therapeutics• Document results and present to scientific leadership of the company• Develop assay transfer protocols and work with analytical development and QC groups on assays

Qualifications

About You:

• PhD in biology, cell and molecular biology or related field
• At least 5 years of experience in a relevant lab performing cellular, biochemical, and molecular assays
• Significant disease-area knowledge as related to Insmed programs
• Demonstrated technical ability in cell culture, in vivo and ex vivo model systems, high content screening, capillary electrophoresis and western blotting
• Ability to collaborate and to oversee work done by staff scientists
• Entrepreneurial spirit, with strong willingness to take on new challenges required to bring novel medicines to the clinic.
• Strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety guidelines.

Travel Requirements

Up to 5% travel, both domestic and/or international, with periods of 50% and more travel.
