Job summary
The Buyer/Planner position is an important role within the Device Manufacturing Operations team and the strategic Supply Chain management structure. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for updating information into the ERP system, placing purchase orders, and assist with creating work orders. The Buyer/Planner coordinates with suppliers on pricing, purchase orders, and on resolving issues. They also coordinate with Production to issue Work Orders. The position requires collaboration cross-functionally with various internal stakeholders and externally with contract manufacturers to ensure effective, efficient, and timely material planning and inventory management. In addition, the position will be expected to follow all documentation in compliance with the current Quality Policy and standards. 

Essential job functions and duties
• Initiate contact with prospective vendors, review quotes, understand product availability, terms of sales and lead times.
• Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials, packaging materials, parts services and/or supplies necessary for operation of the departments.
• Develop and manage product forecast through the interactions with clinical operations team and the Biologics R&D team. Use these forecasts to develop production schedules to ensure product and material availability is maintained. 
• Create, edit, and approve items master data in the ERP system
• Perform the function of Demand and Material planning for production materials
• Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy and enforce every contract term set with each vendor.
• Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability.
• Follow up on orders placed, verify delivery, approve payment and maintain necessary records.
• Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.
• Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
• Assist in the technical transfer of design/manufacturing specifications for new products and/or assemblies to vendors for initial build(s).
• Execute other tasks assigned by leadership.

Minimum requirements
• Bachelor’s degree required or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained
• Minimum of 3 years of combined experience in inventory management, planning and purchasing processes.
• Prior medical device experience preferred.
• Solid understanding of supply chain, materials management and business management fundamentals as well as operations and enterprise economics.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications in order to communicate with suppliers.
• Proficient in understanding, writing SOPs and purchasing documentation.
• Proficient in generating production plans and schedules.
• Experience working in a heavily regulated and cGMP compliance business.
• Excellent teamwork skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and advanced Microsoft products skills
