Position Summary

This role will plan and implement activities related to the procurement of raw materials, goods and services. Compile and analyze statistical data to determine feasibility of buying parts and to establish price objectives. Approve and qualify vendors, obtain quotes, examine bids, negotiate pricing, and ultimately prepare and issue vendor Purchase Orders (PO’s). Follow up on all PO’s through completion of order within established need dates and lead time to meet required program schedules and company objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Select best source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirements to procure electronic and mechanical components, to fulfill orders based on submitted purchase request and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
  • Validate DPAS and ITAR regulations that apply to specific applications and/or programs.
  • Maintain Vendor/Supplier database.
  • Research supplier products and capabilities and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Evaluate and negotiate vendor/subcontract pricing, establish delivery schedules (need date), and place Purchase Orders in accordance with company policies, procedures and government regulations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials and services of acceptable quality of the best value consistent with requirements and established budgets.
  • Perform cost / price analysis.
  • Work with material planners to maintain inventory levels consistent with production requirements and targeted inventory goals.
  • Negotiate and manage long-term pricing agreements as well as manage Contract Manufacturer relationships.
  • Monitor supplier performance and recommends corrective action as necessary.
  • Assist in resolving procurement discrepancies and works closely with suppliers, finance, receiving and other internal departments.
  • Act as liaison between suppliers and internal departments to resolve procurement related issues / concerns.
  • Works with suppliers on rejected material and claims resulting from purchase order changes or terminations.
  • Work concurrently with engineering team on qualifications for new and existing design requirements to ensure second source options and supplier selection for quality, price and lead time reliability.
  • Fast-paced environment with critical, tight schedules and periodic need to work additional hours as needed to ensure responsibilities are met.
  • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management is desired.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of prior relevant work experience to include sourcing/procurement experience in an inventory/stockroom environment and ERP systems.
  • Basic computer and software skills in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Flowtrac and/or Unanet is desired.
  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and excels in a team environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
