INEOS Nitriles is Hiring a Sr. Project Controls Manager Near Deer Park, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is accountable for coordinating cost control/project scheduling efforts support to the project management teams to establish “best practices” project execution methods. The incumbent will work closely with executive management, Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project team members to ensure success in project controls, project scheduling and coordination.

The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Quality, Safety and Production (each of equal weight and importance) but, most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works closely with the VP Operations and project management team in Houston providing technical project control support of all major and prospective projects to achieve business objectives for Orion’s construction projects along the Texas Gulf Coast.
  • Assists Project Managers to develop schedules for the proper sequencing of dredging/construction activities, manpower requirements, quantity installations, collection of progress data, etc. and updates progress on a monthly basis.
  • Establishes the baseline plan and produces S-Curves to depict actual progress against the plan. Works with PMT to develop recovery plans.
  • Performs critical path analysis and define key activities of short float.
  • Performs risk analysis for projects within designated parameters and as requested.
  • Resources loads the schedule with man-hours and level when necessary and resource load revenue dollars for weighting to produce earn value analysis.
  • Routinely advises the Project Manager of areas of concerns and risks.
  • Updates productivity reports to support the percent complete and produce schedule variance reports.
  • Provides QA on all Project Control deliverables and provides QA checks to estimates and feedback on estimating.
  • Assesses LD exposure as it correlates to the schedule.
  • Routinely visits project sites to assess schedule and materials.
  • Assists in preparing special reports or studies requested by operations or the project management team.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.

  • Responsible and accountable for incumbent’s own personal safety.

  • Complies with all applicable laws, regulations and Company policies and procedures, and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so.
  • Reports any and all violations of applicable laws, regulations or Company policies and procedures promptly, and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so.
  • Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision (such as certification training, safety training, procedure review, etc.).

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of eight (8) years project controls experience is required, preferably in the marine construction or dredging industry. BS Degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Primavera, and PowerPoint required. Working knowledge of HCSS/Heavybid a plus.

The incumbent must possess excellent computer skills; be capable of working on multiple projects and assignments; and have the ability to interface well with members of the project management team.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.

The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.

In addition, the Sr. Project Controls Manager must also be capable of:

  • Walking, stepping, climbing or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting onto and off of work barges, boats, vessels, or dock facilities of varying heights and access parameters.
  • Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Adapting to extreme temperature changes.
  • Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure.
  • Possess a TWIC or obtain within 3 months of hire.
