Foodservice Sales Representative

Individual FoodService, located in Bell, California, has over 90 years of experience providing quality goods to customers large and small.

In operation since 1926, Individual FoodService is Southern California’s premier distributor of foodservice packaging, dry grocery, janitorial, and small-wares products.

What you need to succeed:

We are looking for outside sales representatives who have the STRONG DESIRE to earn well above average income in a commission driven environment where commission rates exceed the industry standard. You should be a consultative seller who wants to develop strong relationships with their clients, provide relevant solutions, help grow their businesses, and become a trusted partner. 

Overall job responsibilities include:

  • Prospect qualified customer leads for the purpose of opening new accounts
  • Follow up on leads and referrals resulting from field activity
  • Develop and maintain industry product knowledge.
  • Generate additional business by increasing “share of wallet” and selling all offered product categories.
  • Samples products with existing and potential customers
  • Plan general sales strategy and conducts effective sales presentations.
  • Grows sales and profit margins on an ongoing basis to meet established sales and margin goals.
  • Sets up new customer accounts by determining pricing and order assortment; works with Credit Department for initial authorization; other center personnel for scheduling order-taking, deliveries, etc. Performs initial follow-up work with customer ensuring delivery and product satisfaction.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by providing an exemplary level of service by working closely with other center personnel to coordinate efforts to prevent and resolve customer problems. May be personally responsible for making deliveries in emergency situations.
  • Builds additional business with current customers through product penetration in order to maximize profitability of individual accounts.
  • Minimizes accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms and follows up on any problems.
  • Maintains awareness of pricing trends within sales territory, particularly on market driven / commodity products, to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Participate in company meetings to review sales performance, product development, sales goals and profitability!
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • This position requires local travel, including surrounding areas, infrequent travel of business-related will be expected.

  • Competence in Microsoft Office and general computer usage
  • Sales systems experience i.e., online order entry, sales metrics dashboard or CRM experience

Salary: $75,000 on a path to a sole commission structure
