Job Summary

IndeVets is looking for a savvy Controller to run the accounting operations of our business. While the primary role is focused on the traditional functions of a financial Controller to ensure our financials are sound, the right candidate should enjoy digging into the details of data and deriving insights for the business. Key Responsibilities:

• Under direction of the COO, lead the accounting functions for the Company.
• Create, monitor and enforce financial policies and procedures.
• Issue timely and complete financial statements.
• Calculate, understand, track and communicate the driving financial KPIs for our business.
• Report monthly, quarterly and annual variances against budget.
• Own the day-to-day accounting operations including managing Quickbooks online and ensuring that it is reflective of the current state of the business.
• Manage all aspects of the month-end close process, including but not limited to: booking journal entries, performing account reconciliations, reviewing expense reports, and running management reports.
• Manage growing accounting team, which currently includes full-time Senior Staff Accountant and part-time Staff Accountant.
• Manage cash flow.
• Identify areas of opportunity in the organization and drive change to improve our current systems, processes, and financial efficiency.
• Identify areas of opportunity for financial risk reduction.
• Manage accounts payable through Bill.com. Ensure that all invoices are coded properly to the Ledger and paid timely.
• Manage accounts receivable by generating invoices on a bi-weekly basis and tracking all offline adjustments. Manage daily cash collection. Run reports and conduct outreach to customers in overdue status. Implement a collection action plan.
• Execute bi-weekly payroll by reviewing timesheets, tracking PTO payments and ad hoc bonuses, calculating final paychecks, and acting as the main point of contact for employees with pay stub questions. Ensure that all deductions and payroll activities are compliant with payroll laws.
• Monitor debt levels and assure compliance with debt covenants.
• Pay and record sales tax payments monthly.

Qualifications:

• 8 years financial accounting experience
• 3 years management experience
• Undergraduate Degree in Accounting/Finance or relevant field
• CPA/CMA preferred
• Strong understanding of payroll tax laws
• Proficiency in Quickbooks
• Comfort with technology, particularly web-based business applications
• Strong communication skills

Preferred Skills / Experience:

• Proficiency in Quickbooks
• Experience migrating some QB to Netsuite or other preferred
• Strong technical aptitude
• Experience using business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tablue)
• Strong communication skills
