DNV Energy Systems business area is making exciting investments in energy storage and the Energy Storage team is growing to match customer demand. We are seeking a qualified Project Manager (PM) to join the Independent Engineering (IE) team within the Energy Storage Engineering (ESE) section to be focused on energy storage and hybrid (renewable plus storage) systems. You will be exposed to the entire storage project development life cycle, work with the biggest developers and financiers in the space with cutting edge technology. The primary functions of these positions include supporting major customer accounts, leading project due diligence, advising clients of energy storage industry best practices, managing projects, contributing to process improvements, sharing knowledge, obtaining and receiving feedback, and a bit of business development including developing proposals.

The IE team sits at the engineering nexus between energy storage technology and financing to support transactions that grow the market. While our clients pay us, we work independently as a voice for the industry. This role will directly support and be engaged with the investor community to finance large-scale energy storage projects. What Youll Do

  • Initiating and coordinating the technical review process among internal specialists (including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology experts, permitting, battery safety, contract reviews, etc.)
  • Communicating with clients to provide timely and relevant project updates and deliverables while ensuring milestones are met and expectations are exceeded
  • Perform overall project management activities and ensuring excellent customer communication
  • Building business with existing and new clients by demonstrating DNVs value and developing proposals in response to sole sourced requests or RFPs
  • Participating in continuous improvement efforts for the ESE team, including tool development, process refinement, and lessons learned activities
  • Performing portions of the due diligence reviews, including contract and financial model (OPEX and CAPEX) reviews
  • Developing content for blog posts, industry conferences, and client workshops
  • Juggling multiple projects and levels of responsibility simultaneously
  • Converting with vague and incomplete information into well-informed, risk-mitigated conclusions
  • Working with a diverse group of fun and talented people
  • Collaborating with technical specialists to write and peer review due diligence reports
  • Coordinating construction and operational monitoring by DNV, including performing site visits, reviewing construction documents, progress reports, schedules, budgets, change orders, and invoices to ensure the project is built as designed to meet performance expectations

As required by the various Pay Transparency laws, DNV provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado, California, Washington, or New York. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the states of Colorado, California, Washington, and New York only, the range of starting pay for this role is $90,000 - $140,000.

What is Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related energy field
  • Approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in batteries, energy storage, and/or solar storage industry in the context of engineering, estimation, construction, development, origination, consulting, finance, or project management
  • Familiarity with energy industry technology (batteries, inverters, PV modules, PV mounting systems, balance of system components, etc.)
  • Project management and time management skills, including an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines and to establish and maintain good relationships with clients
  • Solution-oriented thinking skills identifying technical risks and formulating solutions or work-arounds that allow development and financing/investment to proceed
  • Display high integrity and honesty clients rely on DNVs independence and its responsibility to perform a rigorous but fair review of a project or product
  • Fluent MS Office products
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations, and emails, and to clearly communicate complex technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

What is Preferred

  • Masters Degree
  • Additional programming or data analytics experience
  • Familiarity with contracts (construction, supply, operation and maintenance, warranties, interconnection, offtake, and/or asset management contracts)
  • Experience in at least one of the following: solar industry construction and operating contracts, solar project construction, operations/asset management, solar project design/development, module/inverter technology, power marketing/offtake contracting, or energy storage technology and implementation (Preferred) Experience in the wind industry or other renewables may be advantageous
  • Willingness and ability to travel, up to 10% of the time, highly flexible travel timing, typically for site visits, team events, or conferences
  • Familiarity with storage business models
  • Experience understanding budgets and financial models and comfort navigating complicated excel spreadsheets
