The Systems Administrator role is broad in technology coverage and deep in platform experience. This role is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical business applications and databases. This includes ensuring industry best practices are followed, a fault tolerant architecture is implemented, proper monitoring is put in place, and documentation is created/ maintained. The Systems Administrator will assist in overseeing technical escalations, project scheduling, and team guidance as required.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage applications through product lifecycles, from development to mission critical production systems.
  • Develop processes for optimizing database access and security.
  • Design and implement database and application backup strategy and test backups to ensure recoverability according to business SLAs.
  • Assist end users with break/ fix troubleshooting as point of escalation for complex technical issues.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment during maintenance windows.
  • Develop and maintain training materials including solution and procedural documentation.
  • Guide vendors by communicating requirements, evaluate software solutions, and build cost effective solutions.
  • Regularly provide mentoring and cross training guidance for others in the department.
  • Technical liaison to other teams in support of common business goals by analyzing project requirements and developing reliable/scalable solutions.
  • Technical advisor to business partners to consult, design, and implement secure technology strategies.
  • Effectively document and communicate technical information in a clear and understandable way to all levels of the organization.

Strategic & Planning Responsibilities

  • Act as project lead in the design and review of new systems, business applications, and related hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed.
  • Lead and influence technical direction at all levels of enterprise Infrastructure
  • Lead, coordinate, and participate in key process improvements as they relate to infrastructure technologies

Requirements

We are looking for people with:

An Associate’s degree (A.A.) in the field of computer science or management information systems and/or 6 years of directly related work experience is required. Certifications in Cisco, VMWARE, Citrix, SAN storage technologies, collaboration platforms, and Windows Server are highly desired. Additional requirements include:

  • A minimum of 6 years’ equivalent work experience in a senior technical analytical position responsible for managing server, application, and database environments
  • Advanced knowledge of server technologies including Operating Systems, physical and virtual server environments, collaboration systems including Office 365, MS Teams, Sharepoint, and Active Directory
  • Advanced knowledge of MS SQL Server
  • Basic knowledge of the following networking technologies: routing, switching, LAN/WAN, wireless, and Ports /protocol filtering (firewall systems)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Extensive experience installing, configuring, and maintaining database applications.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of scripting code using shell scripting tools.
