Imagine Englewood if is Hiring a Director of Facilities Near Chicago, IL

Director of Facilities 

We Grow is a collective of nonprofit organizations in West Englewood. Imagine Englewood If, Grow Greater Englewood, Teamwork Englewood, Growing Home and Metropolitan Family Services are members of the collaborative, coordinating their services to meet the needs of the Englewood community. These organizations are providing services out of the Peace Campus on 64th and Honore and are looking for an Director of Facilities to lead coordination of facilities management across all organizations and manage campus operations. 

Working directly with the Executive Director of Imagine Englewood If, who is leading the collaborative, the Director of Facilities will oversee building and grounds maintenance for all 16 in West Englewood. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections on We Grow/Peace Campus
  • Create and implement all safety and security procedures
  • Coordinate upkeep of all of the buildings on campus and ensure regular maintenance of properties 
  • Supervise facilities support staff and maintenance staff
  • Monitoring the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, nature park, basketball courts, garden and campus grounds
  • Engage and manage all construction projects and manage vendor relationships
  • Performing routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs as needed
  • Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors
  • Ensuring proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors or a team of security professionals
  • Monitor security systems, working with security and fire safety providers to ensure systems are working properly and inspected regularly. 
  • Maintaining day-to-day operations of facilities, such as delegating or completing maintenance orders
  • Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safety and other occurrences for supervisors and other relevant staff
  • Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions
  • Oversee and analyze departmental budgets to find ways to minimize expenses and optimize profits
  • Inspiring and motivating employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement and incentive initiatives
  • Identifying potential problems and points of friction and working to find solutions in order to maximize efficiency and revenue
  • Perform any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Facility Management, Engineering or Minimum of three years related work experience required
  • Advanced mechanical skills and knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems
  • Substantial experience in property management
  • Substantial experience with project management for construction projects
  • Proficiency with repair tools and techniques
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Excellent planning and implementation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and ability to be a self-starter
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There will be local travel required and some evening and weekend work. Requires ability to climb stairs, prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching, requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Primary work hours will be between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
