A Bit About The Role
The primary function of this position is to lead and manage a global, multi-location department currently consisting of 30 FTE's which are responsible for the processing, accounting, reconciliation, analysis, and compliance associated with Imagine’s Global Accounting and Technical Accounting functions.
Global Accounting includes revenue accounting, procure to pay, fixed assets, prepaids and accruals, accounting for bank accounts, corporate cards, allocations and employee travel and expense reimbursement; as well as responsibility for the world-wide month end close process.
Technical Accounting consists of overseeing and managing the external audit, external reporting, and internal controls for key financial processes. The Controllership team will also collaborate with the other functional teams, including our Systems, FP&A, People, Facilities, Legal teams, and various other business units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a global team leveraging world class tools and processes to deliver against the financial management and reporting responsibilities of the company
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the global accounting, revenue recognition, shared services, financial reporting, outsourced accounting, tax, and treasury functions
- Plan and direct all accounting activities across the organization to ensure compliance with local and international GAAP, statutory guidelines, and internal financial policies and procedures
- Drive compliance with ASC 606
- Continually evaluate and optimize month-end close procedures, striving to consistently deliver timely, reliable, and accurate financial reporting
- Develop/enhance, implement and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures that will improve the overall operation and reduce risks of the business
- Provide guidance on technical accounting and financial reporting issues
- Review reconciliation of all Global Accounting Functions balance sheet accounts, including clearing of related reconciling items, in accordance with Imagine policy, to ensure accurate financial results in the G/L for all balance sheet accounts
- Coordinate tax planning, reporting, and filing with Tax Manager and PE ownership group
- Oversee root cause analysis of recurring reconciliation issues and recommend and influence the implementation of process improvements and tools solutions to correct and mitigate these.
- Steward global allocations. Coordinating with FP&A and the Systems team to ensure we have a repeatable, consistent compliant and accurate allocation methodology. Oversee the monthly allocation calculations and recordings ensuring inputs and results are consistent, appropriate and accurate, that the results in the G/L are reasonable, and that any material fluctuations are explainable.
- Prepare and facilitate a monthly fluctuation analysis of revenue and expense and balance sheet accounts to resolve resulting action items.
- Steward and contribute to the preparation and presentation of a monthly financial reporting package to review and analyze the company's consolidated global results.
- Manage annual external audits (US and statutory audits) acting as the primary point of contact for auditors
- Set expectations and manage relationship with outsourced accounting providers
- Preparation of and review for accuracy in all respects of Imagine’s external financial statement requirements, including global statutory filing requirements.
- Oversee the implementation, maintenance and recurring optimization of tools, processes and readout and escalation strategies to monitor and communicate the "health" of the Global Accounting Functions. Process should be such that critical issues are detected, analyzed, escalated if required, and ultimately resolved timely with minimal impact to the financial statements and actual results reporting process.
- Build a network of peers and participate in industry groups to establish a benchmark for "best in class" Global Accounting Functions and Technical Accounting efficiency and effectiveness.
- Actively participate in driving the Finance Systems roadmap, appropriately prioritizing initiatives and helping to ensure automated solutions for Global Accounting Functions are implemented.
- Collaboration with other functional teams, including our Systems, FP&A, Human Resources, Facilities, Legal teams, and various other business units on Global Accounting Function matters with cross functional impact.
About You
- BA degree in Accounting or Finance coupled with 10 years relevant work experience and preferably public accounting experience and CPA credentials.
- 5 years of leadership and management experience with proven results for building and leading highly effective teams.
- Experience with multi-entity, global corporate structures, and multi-currencies
- Power user level experience with ERP systems. Prior Oracle Fusion experience
- System and process architecture, troubleshooting, re-engineering and mapping
- Strong understanding of ASC 606 including multi-element bundled transactions
- Experience with recurring metrics tracking and analysis
- Interacting with external parties including auditors and other service providers.
- Presentations to senior and executive management
- High functioning, working knowledge of relevant accounting practices and procedures including US and international GAAP. A qualified candidate will have commanding knowledge, skills and abilities with accounting
- Solid reconciliation and accounting process knowledge including comfort with multi-entity and multi-currency environments.
- Strong system and data flow knowledge. Ability to learn and adapt to new flows and software technologies.
