Position: Assistant Teacher

Reports to: Director

Description of Position: Assistant teachers should possess the skills and abilities necessary to work with children and maintain a good classroom flow in the absence of the lead teacher. Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging children in small and large group activities, providing open centers for children to play in, interact with children and parents, maintain professionalism and confidentiality standards, all while providing a safe and nurturing environment for the students.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Provide a safe and positive learning environment for students and other staff members
• Implement and engage students in age appropriate centers
• Provide opportunities for students to play, sing, dance, build, do art projects, get messy/gooey, and play outside on a daily basis
• Use positive teaching techniques including modeling, assisting when needed, and praising of good behaviors
• Use appropriate tone and language when communicating with children
• Provide parents with daily feedback
• Sanitize toys, table tops, and all other surface areas of the classroom
• Keep classroom well maintained, neat, and organized
• Maintain professionalism when on property of Imagination Station (saying hello and goodbye to parents, using correct language, no smoking, etc.)
• Change diapers/assist with toileting as needed
• Follow state regulations and guidelines

Other Responsibilities Include:

• Continuing education via trainings and workshops offered by Imagination Station
• Assist in maintaining all required written reports (attendance, cleaning checklist, health check, etc.)

Education: Childcare experience is required.

Skills: Enthusiastic, hard-working, ability to multi-task is a must. Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred. Applicant must have the ability to model behaviors that support the overall philosophy of Imagination Station.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $14.00 - $14.50 per hour

• Batavia, NY 14020: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
