Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible of daily operations, such as preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, and related duties. This is a hybrid role and located in Rye Brook, NY. The Accounting Manager will report to the Corporate Controller.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance of GAAP and IFRS compliant books and records for several entities in the USA and Canada and prepare the required Consolidated GAAP format financial statements with required disclosure. This responsibility will require translation of Canadian financials.
  • Responsible for the overall general ledger control of the US and Canada. Specific areas of responsibility: inventories – costing, control and reserves, physical inventories; control and reconciliation of all intercompany transactions working with Product Supply. 
  • Ensure fiduciary controls and compliance are in place, on a consistent basis.
  • Prepare monthly legal entity financial statements and support all inquiries for G/L accounts and/or financial line items 
  • Maintain HFM mapping tables and participate in monthly reconciliations.
  • Planning - Work with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to prepare for monthly financial review with Executive Team.
  • Coordinate with FP&A team to prepare and review all special reporting requirements for all entities – e.g. quarterly and annual closing package and formal intercompany reconciliations for Parent Company.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax filings for USA and Canada: Income taxes (state and federal), sales and use, and personal property. Also, ensure timely issuance and compliance for other state and federal filings including 1099’s.
  • Serve as a liaison for all audit activities; manage the relationship with external/internal auditors and oversee the documentation request process.
  • Manage the lease accounting process for all entities; this includes maintaining the accuracy and completeness of the leases within the subledger, related journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Works with teams to design internal controls to mitigate key financial statement risks in the financial reporting, procure to pay, order to cash, inventory, fixed assets, treasury, tax, payroll, and benefit processes. Oversees the execution of key financial controls to ensure they operate effectively.
  • Oversee all day-to-day financial operations including A/P, A/R, billing & collections, employee expense management and cash management (cash forecasting).
  • Work with IT in the effective use of the company’s ERP system and collaborate with the business to ensure data integrity and best business practice.
  • Support the documentation and maintenance requirements for the Company’s accounting policies which include the adoption of new accounting standards and policies as disclosed in its financial statements. 
  • Responsible for understanding and analyzing all general ledger accounts and providing explanations for variances.
  • Responsible for reporting and accounting fixed assets and loaned equipment including preparation of rollforward schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance.
  • Strong understanding (both technical and application) of GAAP and research capabilities; experience in developing and documenting accounting policies.
  • 8 years accounting and reporting experience preferably in the consumer products industry
  • 3-5 years of experience in CPG/Manufacturing industry with solid understanding of the full cycle AP process (purchase orders, GR/IR)
  • Experience in analysis of key financial statements, and/or working capital, cash flow.Experience with the preparation of information for the federal and state income taxes 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Team player; willing to collaborate/work across the organization to resolve issues/opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with external agencies.
  • Self-starter, organized, analytical, and detail oriented with an ability to work independently and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong ERP system and PC (Excel) skills are a necessity. JD Edwards experience is strongly preferred.
