Job Summary:
The Environmental, Health, Safety & Security Manager (EHS&S) oversees the day-to-day EHS and Security operations for iHerb’s Moreno Valley facility and provides support to the Perris facility as needed. The manager will function as an EHS&S Business Partner for assigned functional areas (e.g., Operations). Manager will fulfill site-wide responsibilities for specific program area ownership. The manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations including but not limited to: Cal-OSHA/OSHA, DOT, Cal-EPA/EPA, Riverside County Department of Environmental Health and Public Health.
Job Expectations:

Manages various EHS&S programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and company requirements, utilizing industry best practices to identify and manage risk.

Acts as a critical resource for change management implementation needs (e.g., new construction, new equipment, chemicals, capital projects) related to hazard identification, determining necessary risk assessment programs.

Facilitates across multiple business functions and business units; to help management establish objectives and plan EHS compliance and security programs to achieve goals.

Leads the identification of programs that need improvement. Creates and leads teams to address deficiencies. Negotiates to align resources from business functions.

Implements continuous improvement and compliance assurance programs to ensure the site complies with applicable regulatory and company requirements and is always inspection ready.

Provides leadership for achievement of EHS Site Goals (e.g., Injury rates), including data collection and analysis, action plan development, forecasting, communication, and organizational influence as needed to set and achieve goals.

Manages and reports EHS KPIs including safety; security and sustainability including leading and lagging indicators.

Implements corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to incidents and inspections/audits

May lead government and company compliance interactions relative to EHS&S requirements, including reporting, notification, facilitating inspections, and ensuring closure of corrective actions.

Leads oversight and facilitation of staff in the development and sustaining of EHS Committees and local Emergency Response Team

Manages contracted security support staff and security KPIs

Perform incident investigations and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to closure.

Advises business partners/leaders with current EHS trends.

Implement EHS communications through regular electronic updates and presentations.

Manages workers compensation cases to closure.

Uses every opportunity to drive EHS&S awareness by demonstrating safe behavior, continuous self-development and education in areas of environmental, health & safety compliance, industry trends and regulatory developments

Manage ergonomics program

Develop routine regulatory reports required by the various environmental permits, conduct required activities to maintain the permits and file reapplications necessary to meet business needs

Perform site audits and lead efforts with management teams to implement corrective actions

Manage EHS Budgets, assist with planning and maintaining the EHS Departments finances.

Manage Industrial Safety programs and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, i.e., lockout/tag out, confined space, fall protection, powered industrial vehicles and company policies and procedures.

Anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.

Conduct inspections of the facility, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulatory compliance.

Implement and administer hazard control methods and safety procedures.

Implement and maintain warehouse management safety accountability programs.

Ensure Worker’s Compensation Claims Management program is administered in an effective and compliant manner in conjunction with the Corporate Safety Manager and Human Resources department including incident investigations, data analysis and recurrence prevention program and procedures.

Respond and aid in all emergency situations. Provide first aid to team members as needed and when feasible.

Effectively manage EHS&S programs through influence and partnership with warehouse leads.

Partner with warehouse leads and operations staff through frequent interactions on the warehouse floor focused on risk reduction

Conduct emergency response drills on an annual basis, report results to management, and implement identified corrective actions

Safety incentive programs by compiling department results monthly and communicating results electronically and in writing. Provide recognition to department team members though monthly, quarterly, semi and annual celebrations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:

Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements that govern worker health and safety; physical assessment and ergonomic skills; strong presentation skills for training required.

Strong analytical skills’ excellent verbal and written communications skills’ proven ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization; experience in a multi-shift operation a plus.

CPR and First Aid certified

Experience Requirements:
Generally, requires a minimum of five (5) years safety, risk management or related experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety Environment and Health or related field preferred or a combination of education and equivalent work experience.

CSP or CIH certification is preferred.

Active membership in at least one relevant professional organization (e.g., BCSP, AIHA, NSC, ASSP) is preferred.
Judgment/Reasoning Ability:
Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.
