Position Title: Master Scheduler

Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

Department: Production Control

Position Summary

The Master Planner/Scheduler position is a hands-on position and is responsible for developing and executing demand, production and inventory plans that will enable the organization to meet sales and service objectives. In addition, this role will apply knowledge of demand management, capacity planning, master scheduling and process improvement in support of the overall organizational strategic objectives. This position supervises 1-3 team members.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and coordinate a strategy that effectively analyzes, communicates and executes the short-, medium- and long-term production scheduling objectives to meet on-time delivery.

2. Coordinate with management, engineering, manufacturing, operations, purchasing, and other departments to execute the production plan.

3. Review capacity constraints across various work centers and work with operations team to prioritize scheduling conflicts.

4. Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, quality, operations, and engineering.

5. Identify, track, communicate and manage shortages with internal personnel, lead "recovery" actions to ensure suppliers drive buffer strategies and backlog with their supply chain.

6. Optimize raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventories to ensure efficient work flow through the plant, minimize cost and personnel requirements, and enhance delivery performance. Identify potential alternate materials from inventory, work-in-process, and finished goods to apply to specific sales orders to minimize costs.

7. Initiate ordering of raw material through purchasing to support ERP within authorized inventory levels to assure adequate raw material lead times to meet customer delivery requests.

8. Prepare and review travelers for assigned product lines for technical accuracy.

9. Review costs of completed jobs. Provide information from these cost reviews to others within the organization.

10. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and

priorities for the MRP system; recommend and administer policies and procedures.

11. Exercise the usual authority of a Supervisor in relation to hiring, training, counseling, employee relations, performance evaluation, promotions, terminations, etc.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.
