Founded as a precious metals company in South Africa, we have evolved into a dynamic, technology-based manufacturing organization focused on three key business segments, including dental alloys, zirconia, and digital dentistry solutions. We continue to invest in innovative product improvement initiatives through its Quality Management System to provide our global customers with affordable, high-performance products and industry-leading excellent service. About the Opportunity

Business Unit Manager performs an integral role in developing and implementing strategies to support Business Units. The position focuses heavily on the details of value creation. Such as pricing, continual cost improvement, identifying new profitable business opportunities. They're responsible for gathering customer requirements and defining their vision with Sales and Marketing as well as overseeing product strategy, pricing and positioning strategies. Responsible for annual sales revenue and gross profit.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Develops and implements strategic business plan to grow the business unit products to our customers.
  • Works cross functionally to decide what products and services will be offered, how they will be packaged, and develop the workflow to fulfill the sale through our distribution channel.
  • Works with Sales and Marketing to develop methods to drive consumable business through the business unit products sold to customers.
  • Works closely with the support team to ensure customers have a great experience.
  • Functions as the relationship lead for all business unit vendors that we sell to ensure cost-efficient pricing and product proficiency.
  • Develops rigorous training programs to evolve talent, support cross-functional learnings, and keep pace with our growing product offering.
  • Bridges the gap between sales, marketing, customer and technical support, and supply chain.
  • Possess a desire to constantly learn about our customers, market competitors and the dental laboratory industry.
  • Relentless in identifying the right solutions for meeting our customer needs.
  • Has the self-assurance to make decisions, understands how to find the best path forward, and seeks input from other stakeholders.
  • Serves as escalation path on customer issues.
  • Develops and launches e-learning video series to educate and train customers.
  • Communicates effectively with the outside sales team to keep them apprised of all interactions with their accounts. 
  • Communicates effectively with other departments to ensure account order timelines, customer inquiries, and overall satisfaction exceeds expectations. 
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth.
  • Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners.
  • Develop product pricing and positioning strategies.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes.
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact.
  • Drive product launches including working with the marketing team, executives, and other product management team members.
  • Evaluate promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with product line strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed.
  •  Act as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding.
  • Represent the company by visiting customers to solicit feedback on company products and services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What does it take to be successful?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience interacting with customers. 
  • 5 years of experience managing teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of 3shape Scanners & Software, Dental Mills, Furnace, Suction, Mill Sundry Items.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Delivery and solution focused attitude with client’s best interest always in mind. 
  • Experience working with CRMs (Salesforce) and ERPs (QAD). 
  • Proficient computer and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management.
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies.
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job.
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures, and completing on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
