IES Communications is Hiring an ASSISTANT CONTROLLER Near Tempe, AZ

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller assists the Controller in directing the organization’s accounting functions including the cost, payables and reporting. The Assistant Controller is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports, account reconciliations and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and consolidating financial statements
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls
  • Managing all aspects of the general ledger
  • Providing monthly, quarterly and year-end analyses
  • Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Analyzing and reporting cost variances
  • Assists with preparation for external auditors
  • Supervising accounts payable and general accounting departments
  • Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Works to reconcile accounting inaccuracies and imbalances
  • Ensure that all required accounting policies and procedures are documented and followed by the organization

  • Skilled in time management and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Must possess the ability to learn Company and customer project management systems.
  • Solid Understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations

Qualifications

  • Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
    • CPA preferred.
    • Must have at least five (5) years accounting experience, minimum of two (2) years of Fixed Assets experience
    • Must possess strong General Ledger Skills
    • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related telecommunications or construction accounting position preferred.
    • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project) and general accounting software.
    • Must be able to effectively operate office equipment and computing devices commonly used in the industry.
    • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
    • Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
    • Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to identify a project, create a project filing system, develop detailed associated administrative tasks, and manage these for project final record keeping and audit.
