IDEXX Laboratories is Hiring a Histology Support Specialist Near Elmhurst, IL

Our Histology Support Specialists operate as liaisons between our histology laboratories, IDEXX pathologists, lab support teams, and external vendors, as well as supporting our Histology Technicians in their laboratory work. That is why they are so crucial to achieving our purpose. This role is best suited to organized, passionate communicators who strive to help animal healthcare diagnostic professionals keep our pets healthy.

Successful candidates will be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment where they will navigate various questions from internal and external stakeholders. Ability to multitask is essential as Histology Support Specialists will use a variety of methods of communication, and be required to change priorities when needed.

In This Role:

  • You will assure accurate and timely delivery of casework (and collateral materials) to remote pathologists.

  • You will be Inputting sample information in the laboratory database.

  • You will be stocking benches with necessary materials to make sure the technicians have everything they need.

  • You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting virtual microscopy (VM) systems that provide remote viewing & digital slide analysis capability to pathologists.

  • You will manage client queries in a timely manner.

  • You will create and maintain VM system standard operating procedures.

  • You will troubleshoot VM system problems with pathologists, labs, vendors, IT, and others.

  • You will be responsible for the packaging and shipping of pathology samples (including blocks, slides and tissues) to offsite pathologists, clients and 3rd party vendors to complete add on testing.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Laboratory background preferred by not essential.

  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and are able to quickly change between methods of communication based on the situation.

  • You work well in a fast-paced environment.

  • You can work well autonomously and in collaboration with others.

  • You have situational agility and can change priorities as necessary.

  • You have strong technical trouble-shootingskills.

  • You have excellent computer skills, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) experience a plus.

  • You are organized and methodical with a good attention to detail.

  • You are able to work with limited supervision
