Responsibilities

This position is hybrid in the Boston, MA area only. 

This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager. The Lead Senior Software Developer Engineer in Test will be able to manage a group of manual QA testers and other SDETs. This role will have Human Resource responsibilities of approximately five direct reports that span multiple product lines.

They will contribute to and review the creation of automated testing solutions for external facing applications. The SDET will also be responsible testing tasks and focus on the testability, robustness, and performance of production software. As such, an SDET is a test professional with advanced programming skills who can create automation testing tools and frameworks to assist the manual testing process. They should have excellent time management and organizational skills as well as strong communication skills. Passion for designing, development, and testing and the ability to work with product owners and delivery teams in a SAFe agile environment. We are looking for someone that enjoys delivering higher quality applications, enhancing the customer's experience, and improving operational efficiency by developing automated test suites.

Responsibilities

  • Human resource responsibilities: hiring, mentoring, one-on-ones and growing the team.
  • Develop cross-technology, layered automation framework and approach leveraging existing automation and partnering with automation architecture team to continue to build functionality
  • Develop standards and best practices focusing on UAT / SIT automation
  • Collaborate with engineering team members in all aspects of the automation development process from requirements gathering through iterative develop-and-test cycles
  • Lead and mentor testing team leads and architects in leveraging framework components
  • Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance for multiple projects in the areas of quality and testing
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and training on an ongoing basis
  • Understanding the flow of code and how it interacts with different components.
  • Understanding project documents, customer demands, and product objectives to create and execute test cases.
  • Setting up, maintaining, and performing test automation frameworks on multiple application platforms and building test scenarios and acceptance tests.
  • Investigating customer problems referred to you by the technical support team, testing defects, and creating and managing defect reports.
  • Working with deployments teams, resolving level issues for systems, coordinating on product design, and offering inputs on the testability of functional elements and product designs.
  • Noting all testing actions you have performed in daily and weekly scrum meetings.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in software testing, 3 years as an automation lead or architect
  • Minimum 3 years as a manager or lead.
  • Ability to formulate automation approach, develop roadmap and create/maintain core framework components
  • Proven domain and technical thought leadership within the automation space
  • Ability to collaborate with various SMEs to formulate an automate test strategy and drive automation coverage improvements
  • Experience in defining governance framework, review standards, and environment-based testing plan integrated with CI/CD
  • Experience in testing/automating at all layers: unit, component, DB, API, UI, etc.
  • Strong expertise in C#, Selenium, NUnit, SpecFlow, Nuget, BitBucket, GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.
  • Excellent understanding of SCM processes
  • Strong understanding of REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, Reporting standards and frameworks, SQL, No-SQL, Docker, Kubernetes
  • Expertise in Agile methodologies, iterative methodologies and Behavior Driven Development techniques
  • Strong written/oral communication skills; ability to articulate thoughts/opinions on tools/processes clearly to team members, peers and executives
  • Ability to work seamlessly as part of a multi-site, multicultural engineering team
  • Ability to guide, mentor and train individuals / teams / training batches – should be open to conducting training as a part of the overall role
  • Basic understanding of financial services industry
  • BI experience is a plus
