Role Purpose The Maintenance Supervisor has accountabilities for all aspects of Maintenance at the site. This includes ensuring safe personal and team behaviors, performance, and compliance with all regulatory, safety and food safety procedures and protocols. Additionally leading, motivating, and developing a proactive team of maintenance professionals that optimize the reliability and lifecycle of all operational assets is essential.
Key Responsibilities: - Compliance with procedures that implement the requirements of the Environmental, Health and Safety, and Quality (EHSQ) policies and procedures.
- Carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others, or the environment.
- Reporting all incidents, defects, hazards, and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken.
- Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure EHSQ support activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective manner.
Maintenance Supervisor's additional responsibilities include: - Responsible for proper disposal of hazardous, non-hazardous, special, and universal wastes.
- Maintain contacts and adhere with local, state, and federal regulations as necessary.
- Supervision of the maintenance of critical safety devices to fulfill compliance requirements.
- Understand the lifesaving principles and how they apply to TL's work environment.
- Supports and promotes the Tate and Lyle core values, of environmental health and safety, integrity and respect.
- Promote safe behavior and instill a strong EHSQ culture within the entire maintenance organization, including contractors.
- Ensure that operational equipment, utilities, and facilities maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and Tate & Lyle standards (EHS, quality, etc.).
- Ensure security and emergency preparedness procedures and policies are implemented properly.
- Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
- Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.
- Check electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality.
- Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities, building and grounds maintenance.
- Manage equipment inventory and place orders when necessary.
- Oversee, manage, and direct all maintenance procedures and operations.
- Troubleshoot problem areas and create a clear plan of action for fixing necessary parts.
- Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs.
- Manage maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
- Manage and review service contracts.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive maintenance strategy that aligns with plant and corporate goals.
- Support reliability initiatives and help establish a strong and sustainable reliability culture at the site.
- Provide the development and coaching of members of the maintenance team, at all levels, to ensure the long-term success of the organization.
- Establish effective communications and a strong collaborative environment with other departments, particularly manufacturing, reliability, EHS and quality, as well as other maintenance organizations (both within and outside of T&L).
- Develop and meet a maintenance budget that accurately reflects both short-term needs and long-term viability; drive the organization to optimize maintenance spend.
- Develop a culture of continuous improvements where decisions are made based on facts, data and financial analysis.
- Establish S.M.A.R.T. goals for the organization and utilize visual metrics/dashboards to chart results/progress.
- Drive the organization to solve problems to the root cause level, and always follow-up with actions that will prevent recurrence.
- Site KPI's and Metrics
- Responsibilities include but not limited to oversight of contractors, infrastructure-building, grounds, fire systems, and storeroom.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions on site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust. In addition, this job also operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; work from heights, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move products ranging from 30 to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability see color and adjust focus.
Qualifications - 4-year technical degree or equivalent experience required. Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in maintenance or engineering within a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing background desired.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting skills.
- Fanuc or Columbia/Okura robotic programming and troubleshooting experience.
- Strong preference for experience in leading a maintenance organization from reactive to proactive culture (i.e. reliability culture).
- Minimum 7 years of managerial/leadership experience;
- Strong leader and team builder with good motivational skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven capability at troubleshooting, including the use of root cause analysis techniques for solving complex problems.
- Functional knowledge of utility equipment and systems.
- Knowledgeable in use of SAP maintenance or other EAM/CMMS software programs.
- Financial understanding and experience with departmental budget and expenditures.
