The Production Operator III is responsible for completing the primary responsibilities on one or more of the following types of machines: Fit Operations, Automatic Screw Machine, Grinders, Wheelabrator, Flat Blade Presses, Profilators, Rotary Press, the Hard Fit and Machine Center.

This position is for 2nd Shift - Monday - Friday 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety procedures.
• Operate primary and secondary manufacturing machines within a work cell.
• Responsible for the set-up, changeover, and complete daily preventive maintenance on the equipment.
• Continuously make improvements to maximize up time and to utilize LEAN concepts including pre and post setup.
• May complete subassembly and assembly work within manufacturing work cells when required for production demands.
• Where necessary, monitor work visually and dimensionally referring to blueprints, engineering specifications, engineering input and job instruction sheets. Maintain quality and rate charts as required.
• Monitor and control quality of production pieces through adjustment of machines.
• Follow all quality procedures and instructions.
• Maintains housekeeping in the work area.
• Other related duties as directed by management

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Must have proven ability to safely operate various manufacturing production machines.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written multi-step directions for semi-complex machine operations.
• Understand set-up needs, fixturing and quick changeover.
• Able to work effectively in a team environment.
• Visual acuity and depth perception is required.

Preferred Experience

· Lean manufacturing experience, including SMED, is preferred.

Required Education

•  High school diploma or GED.

•  Minimum of 6 months of manufacturing machine operator experience is preferred.

• Lean manufacturing experience, including SMED, is preferred.

• Direct experience with Broaches, Drills and Grinding/Polishing Equipment are strongly preferred.

Details

• Must be able to continuously lift, push and pull up to 40 lbs, for 8-10 hours per day. This capability will either be determined from a physical exam, or verifiable past performance.
• Continuous standing during a shift (8-10 hours) with frequent reaching, pulling and bending.
