Responsibilities

The Associate Product Manager is responsible for specific duties of the product categories including but not limited to the development and execution of brand and product line strategies, product line maintenance, product marketing, pricing, new product commercialization, market research, product merchandising, advertising, and trade events. This position also partners with other internal departments in the design, development and testing of new products key account presentations, and apprentice programs.

• Evaluate ideas and suggestions for new products, investigate market opportunities and effect on market for present products, and recommend exploitation of economically attractive products.
• Set and maintain product pricing on assigned products. Develop pricing criteria for new product ideas to achieve planned market position and gross margin targets.
• Recommend specific and measurable Marketing objectives for product lines in terms of Revenue, Gross Profits, and Market Share.
• End user and application research to further the understanding of end users. Gather, measure, and prioritize customer pain points, benefits, and productivity improvement suggestions in the process of exploring or validating new product ideas.
• Manage and analyze the product lifecycle from new product introduction through obsoletion
• Continually update size and share of markets into which assigned products are/can be sold.
• Analysis and comparison of competitive performance and landscape in the market.
• Assist with new product launches outlined in the new product marketing plan.
• Drive continuous improvement in sales, gross margin, and inventory turns
• Drive new promotional programs.
• Provide support to Electrical, Industrial, and Retail Channels working with Regional and National Account Managers

• Responsible for acquiring, updating, and comparison of our product performance vs. competitive performance, and competitive landscaping (pricing, features, applications, and innovation)

• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing
• 1-3 years product management experience
• Demonstrated sense of urgency
• Results oriented; high energy; self motivated.
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical and execution skills.
• Strong aptitude for understanding/creating a value proposition and determining the optimal way to position products in the market.
• Ability to travel 10-25% of the time.
