IDAHO MILK PRODUCTS is Hiring a Maintenance Technician-Night Shift Near Jerome, ID

SHIFT:

  • Nights, 6:00pm to 6:30am. Subject to change according to business needs.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is an integral part of Idaho Milk Products ability to maintain our production facility. The Maintenance Technician must be flexible and respond to growing and changing needs of the company, including but not limited to regular standby assignments and work scheduled off-hours due to business needs. Our technicians perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the plant’s business goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Diagnoses problems replace or repair parts, test and adjust equipment for proper operation.
  • Completes work orders, carrying preventative maintenance schedules, and installing new equipment.
  • Performs minor and major repairs on plant equipment in the production facility.
  • Performs as required skilled maintenance activities to include but not limited to construction, welding, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Performs various welding projects.
  • Complies with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
  • Performs work in confined spaces.
  • Performs work from aerial lifts.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High School Education/Diploma or equivalent.
  • An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus.

Knowledge:

  • Sanitary Tig welding preferred.
  • Allen Bradley drives a plus.
  • Industrial plant safety practices.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial milk processing plant. 
  • Electrical industrial experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of dairy processing equipment and plant facilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to regularly perform heavy physical work outdoors in all weather conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Excessive ascending and/or descending of ladders and stairs using feet and legs and/or hands and arms on a regular basis. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances on a continuous basis.
  • Repetitive motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers on a continuous basis.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist on a regular basis.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Regularly bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine continuously.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Includes activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Lifting: Able to lift up to 100lbs occasionally, up to 50lbs regularly.

Working Conditions:

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than two hours occasionally.
  • There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Subject up to at least 92db’s.

Skills:

  • Centrifugal pump maintenance and troubleshooting skills a plus.
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently and in groups.
  • Welding experience in the installation and repair of Sanitary product line, and steam & condensate piping.

Machinery Used:

  • Various hand and power tools.
  • Drive a motor vehicle and/or heavy construction equipment.
  • Computer.
  • Mechanical hand tools, welders, lifts, multi-meter, ammeter and megohmmeter, drill press, grinders, saws, cutting, torches, pipe threaders
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
