Idaho Milk Products is Hiring a Laboratory Clerk Near Jerome, ID

SHIFT:

  • Days (Monday-Friday)
  • subject to change according to business needs.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lab Clerk provides key support to the Quality department including but not limited to various quality testing, data collection and entry, maintains calibrations on laboratory and production testing equipment, and supply ordering. The Lab Clerk is also responsible for transporting samples and making arraignments for 3rd party lab analysis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Builds strong working relationships with employees and departments through clear communications, collaborative efforts and teamwork.
  • Prepares samples for shipment to outside laboratories and customers in a timely manner, also distributes results accordingly.
  • Communicates out-of-standard test results QA Supervisor and production in a timely manner.
  • Orders and maintains lab supplies to ensure adequate inventory at all times.
  • Organize stock items ensuring that all items are properly labeled and placed in their assigned bin locations.
  • Collects and enters data in data management system. 
  • Follows established GLP’s, SOP’s, SSOP’s, Laboratory Methods, Plant Safety Programs, and Work Instructions as well as adheres to GMP program, OSHA and Safety Regulations.
  • Supports business and Quality Department acting as back up for lab technicians by covering technician roles during absences.
  • Takes weekly supplies inventory, maintain minimum stock levels, and create PRs for supplies when needed.
  • Completes QA related projects as defined by the Quality Supervisor.
  • Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Submits cost savings and safety issues/concerns suggestions.
  • Maintains Laboratory records in accordance to regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintains security and confidentiality of information within the Quality Department.
  • Submits ideas and suggestions regarding the improvement of a safe work environment.
  • Assists in providing training for (Quality, GMP, and HAACP) to all new employees and to the plant when necessary.
  • Performs testing for antibiotic, raw milk component, finished product, environmental monitoring, water, swabbing and reporting, and other testing as assigned.
  • Reports to work on time, participate in all plant, department, and safety training and safety meetings.
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Required: High School diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Required: Minimum 1-year experience in an industrial/laboratory setting or procurement Role.
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications.
  • Valid state driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (e.g., processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, collating, etc.).
  • Lifting: Able to lift up to (30) lbs. occasionally.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications, especially Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint software.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective prioritizing, organizing, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to achieve defined goals on time.
  • Experience solving problems, analyzing information, highlighting relevant information and suggesting appropriate actions.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.

Equipment Potentially Operated:

  • Microwave ovens, 5 Hour ovens, Fume hood, Raw milk analytical testing equipment, Finished product analytical equipment, Microscope, pH meters, scales and other standard dairy laboratory testing equipment. In addition; Personal Computer, Copy Machine, Fax Machine, and Calculator, and Phone.
