IAPP is Hiring a Communications Manager Near Portsmouth, NH

The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) is looking for a Communications Manager to join its team.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Communications Director, the Communications Manager will oversee the external communications and media related functions. They will be responsible for forging relationships with journalists and key influencers to ensure effective media coverage. They will work to develop an IAPP spokesperson matrix to ensure IAPP spokespeople are represented in the media and external events. This candidate should be a well-organized self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication skills. Agency experience is preferred.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • With the Communications Director, oversee the execution of IAPP communications plans; ensure consistency in IAPP’s messaging across external facing messaging and media reporting
  • Coordinate and develop media relations programs to promote the IAPP’s products and offerings; optimize opportunities for engagement
  • Develop spokesperson matrix and proactively identify and pursue media opportunities and external in-person or virtual events for spokespeople in coordination with the Communications Director
  • Submit speaker proposals and track events at which IAPP should be represented
  • Brainstorm creative materials and ideas to use in social and print media; utilize for publicity of IAPP offerings
  • Develop press releases, advisories, pitches and talking points when needed
  • Collaborate effectively with multiple teams within the IAPP
  • Manage and coordinate interviews with media and IAPP spokespeople
  • Coordinate engagements with public relation firms
  • Manage reporter inquiries
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English or a related field; plus 4-7 years of experience; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to relate to global audiences with multiple dimensions of diversity, and work collaboratively.
  • Experience implementing communications strategies as well as using data to drive content strategies.
  • Proficient in all MS office applications.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency and comfort with technology, particularly social media (i.e., LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
  • Ability to work independently on routine tasks.

We have a hybrid work environment and are asking applicants to be within a commutable distance to our Portsmouth, NH office.
