Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking a Business Analyst to join the Customer Relations Manager (CRM) team of the Global Information Technology (IT) Division, which handles all technology initiatives, security, and support for HRW’s 550 staff in nearly 50 locations. The Business Analyst will help guide HRW to improve processes and efficiency within Salesforce and other IT systems and will work closely with Global IT colleagues. This full-time position will preferably be based in New York, though other locations throughout the United States may be considered, and reports to the CRM Director based in San Francisco.

The successful candidate may have the option to work remotely. We aim to be as flexible and supportive as possible in both the recruitment for and onboarding of this position. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Help guide the business, including Development Operations, to improve processes and efficiency within Salesforce and other IT systems;

2. Collect, document, and analyze requirements around business challenges;

3. Gather, create and document current and future business process flows while seeking ways to improve current systems and user processes with best practices;

4. Facilitate intake and prioritization of requests and bugs, gather necessary requirements from key stakeholders and liaise between IT and business stakeholders (teams domestically and internationally) to ensure all involved work together to attain the best results;

5. Manage multiple projects and requests from various stakeholders adeptly; and

6. Perform other relevant tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  A bachelor’s degree in business, technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of work experience and qualifications, is required.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, including at least three (3) years in a business analyst function, with at least two (2) years of Salesforce experience. Experience in a non-profit organization is a required.

Credentials:

  • Salesforce Administrator Certification and proficient knowledge of the Nonprofit Success Pack are required.
  • Salesforce Advanced Administrator Certification is desired.
  • Nonprofit Cloud Consultant Certification is desired.
  • Marketing Cloud Admin or Consultant Certification is desired.
  • Experience in Apsona is desired.
  • Engaging Networks experience is desired.

Related Skills and Knowledge:

1. Administrator level understanding of Salesforce structure and data is required.

2. Knowledge of the latest Salesforce features (including lighting, user management, security, custom objects, page layouts, validations, workflow, flows, process builder, reports and dashboards, and the Nonprofit Success Pack) and the ability to configure them, in order to assist with development, testing solutions, or troubleshooting issues to manage business processes is required.

3. Proven track record of experience in working with database systems is required.

4. Previous work experience working with offshore technical team members is highly desirable.

5. Excellent time management skills and ability to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously are required, as well as the ability to prioritize and work independently is required.

6. Great interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively within HRW and with a team of talented professionals in multiple global locations is required.

7. Demonstrated ability to communicate data and data management systems to both technical and non-technical audiences is required.

8. Ability to translate business needs, requirements, and solutions into technical language and to document that information using existing templates to capture functional requirements for design and development is required.

9. Experience in training end users on Salesforce data entry is highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits: HRW seeks exceptional applicants and offers competitive compensation and employer-paid benefits. HRW offers a relocation assistance package and will assist employees in obtaining necessary work authorization, if required; citizens of all nationalities are encouraged to apply. This position is based in the United States and the salary range would be USD 77,000-85,000. Salary ranges outside of the United States vary based on location.
