Summary of Primary Purpose Assist HR Manager in administering various human resource programs, including, but not limited to Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits, EAP, Safety, Recruitment, Employee Opinion Surveys, policies, procedures, leaves of absence, communications, company events and health & welfare issues for all plant employees while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state labor laws. Description of Major Responsibilities Maintain the accuracy of the daily headcount report by working with the Operations Manager, Supervisors, as well as all Temporary Service vendors to ensure appropriate manning levels for facility operations. Track, hourly employee personnel changes (new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, etc) to ensure appropriate manning levels. Provide counsel to HR Manager, Department managers and supervisors regarding application of the policies/procedures including hiring, promotion, employee disciplinary actions and terminations. Ensure consistent, equal and fair treatment of employees. Responsible for external hourly positions (maintain current job descriptions, develop help wanted ads, recruit, interview, and schedule post-offer physicals/drug screens). Maintain contact with local agencies (employment bureau, colleges, technical schools, temporary agencies, etc.) to identify and recruit qualified candidates. Assists with new hire orientations regarding company policies, procedures and benefits. Assist with the administration of various employee-health, welfare, EAP, and retirement plans plant wide. Strive to ensure employees understanding of benefit programs by regularly generating communication and counseling employees/dependents. Responsible for employee relations activities including the Huhtamaki Family Picnic, Holiday activities, employee drawings, retirements, and etc. Creates and maintains the Employee Health and Well-ness monthly bulletin board in conjunction with the planning of the annual Well-ness Fair. Responsible for the planning, writing and coordinating the distribution of the Huhtamaki Company Newsletter. Accountable for the Security Badge system. Maintain open communication with all employees through postings on employee information board, responding to employee questions and fostering positive employee relations. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Employee will work in a manufacturing/office environment and will use the following equipment: computer, calculator, telephone, fax machine, copy machine. Incumbent will work an average 45 hours/week. Requires occasional sitting (40%), occasional standing (20%) and occasional walking (40%). Requires twisting, stooping/bending, squatting/kneeling and reaching above, at or below shoulders. Requires lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. on a regular basis and occasionally up to 25 lbs. Required safety equipment in manufacturing area: hair/beard net, safety glasses, and earplugs. Qualifications An Associate degree or a BS degree in HR, Management, or Business, or equivalent experience. PHR or SPHR certification a plus. 2 years in a Human Resource environment. Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail-minded. Ability to communicate effectively and possess good inter-personal skills. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality on an on-going basis. Ability to convey a positive and professional image to applicants and employees. Must be proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Office (Word/Excel). Join us to shape the future together!
