Accounting Manager

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to help keep our accounting function running smoothly. This is a “roll up your sleeves” accounting position where you can make a significant impact on our financial growth. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the Accounting Team, this person will handle the day-to-day functions of accounting, as well as collaborate on strategic projects that will help us meet our organizational goals. This is an onsite position based out of our corporate headquarters in the charming Eastport Village in Annapolis, MD. Our team enjoys the beautiful view of Carroll’s Creek – our offices are right on the water!

Key Priorities and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief Financial Officer with managing and monitoring the company’s financial accounting operations (AR, AP, taxes, GL entries, etc.)
• Perform accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting functions in accordance with GAAP
• Review customers’ credit data and scores and set and adjust customers’ credit limits and manage and resolve any issues regarding customers’ credit accounts
• Prepare taxes filings, including sales, income, etc.
• Assist the Chief Financial Officer with external audits
• Participate in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for the Chief Financial Officer
• Reconcile monthly statements and transactions
• Maintain effective, timely, and professional communication with accounting team, other Capital Forest Products staff, customers, and vendors, including to resolve questions regarding invoices, pricing, payments, etc. 

Is This You:

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, or equivalent experience
• 5 years of progressively responsible finance, accounting, and team collaboration work experience
• Demonstrated fiscal responsibility and comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis
• Extensive experience with all accounting and finance tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, cash management, and general ledger
• Advanced proficiency using an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system
• Advanced Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Flexibility and ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, with excellent time management skills and attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records
• Punctual, reliable, mature, and trustworthy
• Collaborative and able to work effectively with a dispersed accounting team
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook

Terrific Total Compensation Package:

• Annual starting salary of $75,000 to $85,000, commensurate with experience; annual bonuses may also be available based on company financial performance
