How you’ll contribute to the team:
As a Commercial HVAC Service Technician, you will work under the direction of the Service Operations Manager by identifying and repairing problems related to high and low-pressure boilers/boiler systems, power and steam boilers, forced air systems, hydronic heating and cooling systems, and all brands of HVAC equipment. You will be performing needed startup and maintenance, as well as preventative services for commercial customers. Our Service Technicians work closely with the Service Support Team to complete necessary paperwork and follow up transactions for each job using company provided technology; as well as providing field insight and scheduling feedback. You’ll also proudly maintain Howe’s high-quality standards by maintaining and driving your service truck in a safe manner, keeping your tools and vehicle clean and organized, and promoting company services with a passion.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Our Commercial HVAC Service Technicians are tech-savvy individuals who possess a strong customer service mentality. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to work unsupervised while maintaining the highest level of quality in your work. You will need to provide your own hand tools and maintain a professional appearance always according to Howe standards. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is a must.
How you’ll qualify:
The ideal Commercial HVAC Service Technician will have at least 5 years of experience or a combination of experience and education. You must demonstrate extensive knowledge and skills in repairing electrical, combustion, and mechanical issues on commercial boiler systems. You will need to possess an EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification. You’ll stand out as a Commercial HVAC Service Technician by having completed a 1- or 2-year HVAC program at a technical college, or have NATE Certification in CORE, 3 specialties. Service technicians are expected to obtain additional training and education as required. A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum educational requirement.
What to expect in the field:
Working in the commercial HVAC service industry can be physically demanding. As a Commercial HVAC Service Technician, you must have the physical strength to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, and have the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Service Technicians must also be able to work at height, on ladders or lifts, and in all weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
