DESCRIPTION
Hotel Talent seeks Cooks who will assist in the proper execution of Food & Beverage Service, Guest Satisfaction, and service standards. Ensuring hotel guests receive hospitable and responsive service during their stay ensures guest satisfaction and loyalty.
Cook:
- Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
- Prepare beef, pork, poultry, and seafood dishes and how to complement such entrees with vegetables and sauces. Promptly greets quests in a professional and friendly manner.
- Communicates often and well with Hotel Staff.
- Prepare and assist in executing the breakfast buffet.
- Preparing made-to-order and grab-n-go items.
- Responsible for making sure that all items in the kitchen are fully compliant with the NYC code.
- Responsible for restocking items and reporting items needed to the Manager, cleaning the kitchen, mopping floors, cleaning machinery, microwave, coffee machine, and food displays.
- Keep the preparation area clean.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
REQUIREMENTS
- Speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Understanding of Cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment
- Must be a morning person and highly professional and customer service oriented.
- Experience preferred in services and stocking.
- A food Handling Certificate is required.
- Enjoy being a part of a team and working within a cohesive team environment.
- Use arithmetic to total costs and make changes (concessions).
- Converse with different people to provide information and delivery service.
- Stand and/or walk for long periods.
- Lift and carry heavy objects such as heavy trays.
- Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- A flexible schedule is required for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
